i was crying. my voice was cracking as i sobbed at jordon, watching as he got cuffed and guided into the back of a police car, the blue and red lights flooding the black street. the only comfort in the cold and bitter night was his older brother, who was taking off his jumper and wrapping it around me. the car was speeding off, and with it went my voice. i didn't know what to do, or what to say, how to deal with this, and so i turned to cory and i cried some more.
"he said he'd stopped. said he'd never do it again. one time thing. it's always a bloody one time thing, until the next time!"
"i know, babe. i know. he's an idiot, that's what he is. it'll be okay though. he'll be home for school, i promise you that."
