just praying to a god

┕━━━━ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ━━━━┙"well i think it's quite ironic that you got the part of bottom," i snorted, sitting in the canteen with the eldest wilson brother. "yanno, with you bein an arsehole and that."
"i thought you were about to make a sex joke," cory admitted, chuckling as he stole chips from my plate.
"you are not a bottom, wilson," i replied, kicking his foot under the table.
"you should know," he smirked, as i buried my head in my hands to hide the blush blossoming on my face. "how are you feelin now, anyway?" he asked, face softening as he became concerned.
the last few mornings, i'd been waking up and spewing everywhere, i don't know what it was, but my head was all over the place and i'd been feeling really sick, but it would soon ease off and i'd be okay later on in the day. "i'm fine now," i answered thoughtfully. "just stress, probably, init? what with this ridiculous play—"
"and what did you get? oh yeah, assistant director. you weren't even good enough for a part," he teased.
"ya fuckin bellend, i didn't audition," i replied, groaning as i thought about the awkward encounter where i'd walked onto the stage and then literally walked right back off. "and don't remind me, i have to work with alya. alya!"
"oh, what's my lovely sister done now?" riz asked, sitting down beside cory as a bunch of his other mates gathered around.
"nothin in particular," i answered, grabbing my bag from under the table. as bitchy as it sounds, i just didn't like most of my boyfriends mates. i weren't ever gonna try and stop him hanging around with them, but i weren't gonna become besties with them either. "breathings a good place to start," i joked, swinging the bag around my shoulder, leaving my chips on the table. "see you's later," i smiled, at least trying to be nice as i walked off.
"bunda on her," i overheard one of the lads, whatever his name was, jake or summat.
another one did a low wolf whistle under his breath, in passing.
feeling my blood begin to boil, i stopped in my tracks. i wanted to say something, stick up for myself, but memories of that night in the club came flooding back and with a wave of sickness, i lost my ability to speak.
"that's not funny," cory muttered, picking at the chips like he was looking for a distraction.
"i'm not joking, mate, your girlfriends fit," someone laughed.
"oh, piss off the lot of ya," he spat, a sudden harshness to the way he were speaking, as he stood up and towered over everyone. "ya all desperate little fuckers. grow up," he grumbled, him and riz both walking away. suddenly not feeling frozen anymore, my heart picked up its pace and a warmth spread over me from inside. he made me feel safe.

"have you seen the video of mr quereshi?" hayley asked excitedly, her phone blatantly out in the middle of the corridor.
"no, what is it?" i replied, confused as i drew my eyebrows together, staring at the screen.
"apparently it's got summat to do with your jordon," she told me, pressing play as mr quereshi lunged forward, hitting down some fella in a hood in one punch.
