The rumours of you and Lindir survived the night and became the main gossip subject of the elves of Rivendell, they had caught onto your and Lindir's attitude and reactions to each other and concluded of what was going on and that neither knew of each other's emotions.

Lord Elrond returned from his meeting, glad to be home and in the company of elves rather than men. Elrond, ever since the battle of the last alliance, found men tiresome, always thinking back to Isildur and his failure to destroy the ring.

You stood with Lindir and a few other elves as you watched Elrond and the other elves who accompanied his return. Lindir slightly bounced on the balls of his feet, his hands behind his back, he wished to talk to Elrond immediately about the status of Rivendell.

Elrond got off his horse and smiled, walking toward you. "(y/n) I have missed you" he said, pulling you into a hug.

"I missed you also father" you said, hugging back.

Elrond let go and smiled at you before turning to Lindir who stood patiently but still slightly fidging. Lindir noticed how you slightly closed your eyes and wrapped your arms around Elrond close when you hugged him, Lindir wished that you would hold him like that and sighed at this thought.

"Lindir" Elrond's voice snapped him out of his daze.

"Yes my Lord, do you wish to see the status report?" Lindir asked.

Elrond nodded, following Lindir inside, you watched the two leave and went with your sister toward the gardens talking, you had told Arwen a while ago about what you felt about Lindir, being your only confidante on the matter.

"So how were the days with Lindir?" she asked, taking your arm as you walked around the gardens.

"It was okay" you said, "He became very worried when I fell from a tree so I gifted him a flower"

"That sounds eventful" Arwen said, "I think he worries because he cares for you" she suggested.

"I don't think so" you said sadly.

"I do not doubt that Lindir admires you more than any other elf in Rivendell" Arwen said, pulling you to a seat and sitting. You sat with her and sighed.

"I really don't know" you said. "What if he doesn't?"

"I see the way he looks at you" Arwen said. "Don't doubt your heart"

You sighed, looking down at the plants which slightly moved in the wind.

"Do you remember the way Aragorn looked at me?" Arwen asked.

"I do" you said, chuckling, couldn't take his eyes off you.

"Yes" Arwen said, "I see that every time you and Lindir are together."

You bit your lip, your sister was very persuasive, however, your worries and anxiety were even more and you shook your head. "I should wait"

"Wait for what?" Arwen asked.

"For a sign" you answered.

"Do not wait forever" Arwen said, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder.

Lindir was showing Elrond the work he had done and the status of Rivendell. Lindir stood behind Elrond as Elrond sat at Lindir's desk, reading through the papers closely. Lindir looked back and saw you and Arwen walking in the gardens, he watched as you walked with her and sat at a bench, he wondered what you were talking about.

"So Lindir" Elrond said making Lindir's head snap back to the front.

"Yes my Lord?" he asked.

"Everything seems to be in order" Elrond said, he got up and went up, going to the balcony. Lindir joined him and you both watched the gardens. "What do you think of my child?" Elrond asked.

"Lady Arwen?" Lindir asked, his chest beating.

"No (y/n)" he said,

"Oh of course" Lindir said, slightly flustered. "(y/n) is as noble as you"

"Is that it?" Elrond asked. "I understand, I felt the exact same way toward Celebrían"

"I do not understand my Lord" Lindir stuttered, his heart beating at a wild pace.

"You, my friend, are a wise elf and know exactly what I mean" Elrond said, turning to Lindir. "I support your decision if you wish to court (y/n)"

Lindir flushed red and looked down, "I would not want to assume her stance on me" Lindir said quietly.

"You should not" Elrond said, placing a hand to his shoulder. "So you should ask yourself their stance on you"

Lindir looked back out at the garden, at you and then back at Elrond. "I shall wait for a sign" he said.

Elrond smiled. "Good" he said, letting go of Lindir's shoulder and walking toward the door, "I would be honoured to accept you as part of my family Lindir '' he said and left.

Lindir stood in shock and then looked at you sitting happily. Should he ask you? He had loved you for so long and had said nothing, he wished to break his silence, however, it would be hard to do so.

Lindir sat at his desk and put his head in his hands. What was he to do?
