Chapter 4

Two days have passed and Song Yan still failed to contact Xia Lin. 

He called a few of their friends to ask and they all said they didn't know Xia Lin's whereabouts. 

Song Yan realized that Xia Lin was really avoiding him.

This feeling made him very uncomfortable. Xia Lin took the initiative to coax him every time they quarreled before. Now that the roles have changed, he had no idea where to find Xia Lin.

Song Yan plunged himself into the sofa, wondering whether he should seek help from the Song family or the Xia family.

In fact, he didn't want to contact any of these two families. When he and Xia Lin announced that they were together, they were expelled from the house by the two big families at the same time. 

For so many years, he and Xia Lin lived like ordinary office workers. They worked for the boss of a small company and lived a regular life of 9 to 5.

The two big families did not crush them to death, but they did not step into their respective houses anymore. 

Now he has a fight with Xia Lin. What would he do if Xia Lin returned to Xia family's house in a fit of anger? Should he go and coax Xia Lin back personally?

Song Yan imagined that kind of scene and his whole body resisted the idea. 

At this moment, his mobile phone rang. The caller ID showed Xia Lin's brother's name -- Xia Liang. 

Song Yan hesitated for a moment but in the end, he sat up straight and answered the phone carefully.

Xia Liang asked straightforwardly, "Song Yan, did you have a problem with Xiao Lin?" 

Song Yan thought to himself that Xia Lin had indeed returned to Xia's house. No matter how unpleasant the two fought in the past, Xia Lin would never let the Xia family hear anything. Now, he is afraid that Xia Lin is really mad.

He sighed and said in a low voice, "Brother Liang, I and Xia Lin... did have some misunderstandings. I want to apologize to him but his phone is turned off. Is he with you now? Can you let me speak with him?"

Xia Liang was silent for a moment. "Xiao Lin is not here with me. I haven't seen him." He paused for a while and then continued, "Lawyer Zhang said that Xiao Lin went to him today and transferred all 10% of the shares that grandma left to him before her death."

Song Yan was taken aback. Ten percent of the Xia Group's shares were Xia Lin's last life savings from the Xia family. Now that he has given all of his shares to Xia Liang, he has completely blocked his financial resources. When faced with difficulties, Xia Lin will be isolated and helpless.

But Song Yan couldn't understand why. He had a fight with Xia Lin. Why would Xia Lin completely separate from the Xia family? There seems to be no logical relationship between the two.

He was still thinking when Xia Liang continued, "I heard Lawyer Zhang say that when he saw Xiao Lin today, his complexion was very bad. He asked him why he transferred the shares but he refused to answer. After completing the formalities, he left in a hurry. I couldn't reach him so I called to ask you. I want to know what happened between the two of you."

Song Yan hesitated for a moment but still told the whole story. 

After listening to Song Yan, Xia Liang asked, "Song Yan, tell me the truth, if Yu Luotong is still single now, or if he breaks up with David completely, will you not hesitate to run and reunite with Yu Luotong?"

Song Yan did not answer. In fact, he did have such thoughts before. Xia Liang has found the answer in his silence.

"Xiao Lin sacrificed so much for you but you just used him as a spare tire?"

Song Yan opened his mouth but was unable to refute. 

In the end, Xia Liang hanged up the phone angrily. 

Song Yan collapsed on the sofa, raising his arms to cover his eyes.

Before, he thought that Xia Lin had deceived him so he drove Xia Lin away confidently. Even if he did pursue Yu Luotong again, he wouldn't think he was wrong. Now that he found out that everything is a misunderstanding, not to mention David's existence, how can he give up Xia Lin and pursue Yu Luotong comfortably? 

Yu Luotong is an obsession that he had held on for so many years, but Xia Lin's unforgettable companionship has also drawn a strong stroke in his heart. 

If the two are placed on an equal position for him to choose, he really doesn't know what to do.

Fortunately, Yu Luotong now has his own partner so he doesn't have to be in a dilemma. 

Song Yan opened Xia Lin's WeChat interface, looked at his last solitary message that he hadn't responded to and sighed. 

"Xia Lin, I was wrong, come back."

Still no reply. 

It had been a few days since Xia Lin disappeared. Song Yan tossed around on the sofa for a while then called Xia Liang.

"What are you doing?" Xia Liang asked angrily. 

"Brother Liang, if Xia Lin takes the initiative to contact you or if you find Xia Lin's whereabouts, please let me know. "

Xia Liang seemed to be irritated, snorted coldly, and hung up the phone. Song Yan knew that Xia Liang had agreed and his heart is slightly relieved.
