Suman Tiwari picked up her lehenga and collapsed on the bed again "How heavy is it? " She asked again, looking at the only person in her room. Shreya gave her an amusing glare before replying "18kgs""Freaking 18kgs!" Suman gulped looking at the lehenga. No doubt it's one of the most beautiful lehengas she has ever laid her eyes on but why so heavy? Clumsy her is screaming from inside that she will do something worth remembering.
"Stop being over dramatic Sumo. It's beautiful just go and change quickly, the make up artist will be here anytime." Shreya literally dragged her to the washroom and sighed happily.
For the next few hours Suman felt like a specimen on which a number of experiments were taking place. Some of the products were alien to her, she has never even heard about them let alone use them.
"Nervous? " Pushkar asked eyeing his friend's weird behaviour while clicking the broach on his sherwani. He was wearing a maroon sherwani with golden work on it, matching it with his golden turban. He was looking no less than a model ready to walk on the ramp.
"A bit I guess" Shravan replied, rubbing his sweaty palms and the jittery feelings which were seeping in.
Suman could hear her heart beats when she was taken down to the Hall where the rituals were going to take place. Her palms were sweating profusely. She eyed her surrounding and even being a wreck inside, she admired the surrounding. Fairy lights, crystal lamps and the white flowers were making the ambience more welcoming and exquisite.
"Hold me tightly I think I am going to fall." Suman whispered to Shreya who was taking her to the Hall.
"Nothing that sort of will happen. " Shreya giggled at her friend's nervousness.
"Listen my heart in beating. " Shravan said looking at Pushkar.
"Whoa! That's a new information. I was stupid to think that's what heart usually does." Pushkar pressed his lips to not laugh at him.
"Shut up! " Shravan glared at pushkar but the glare turned into a gape when he saw her behind Pushkar, walking toward him looking no less than a princess.
They were both handed the garlands which were made of white tulips. Unlike any other wedding where chaos took place during the garland exchange, he bend down his head in front of her and she placed the garland with a beautiful smile forming on her lips.
After the garland exchange, the rest of the ceremony passed in absolute blur. They were asked to follow what the priest was doing and they whole heartedly compiled , stealing glances from time to time.
The guests could not stop gushing over the beautiful couple. The flashes of the camera brought a delightful smile on everyone's face and the warmth radiated by the happiness of the couple, made every single person present there, heart flutter with joy.
And they took elder's blessing one by one when the priest announced them husband and wife for the rest of their lives.
When the time came of leaving, tears rolled down her eyes. Of course she was missing her parents on such important day of her life but Mama Mami were always there for her. The time she has spent with them is bitter sweet however they hold a special place in her heart and will always do even her Anuj bhaiya, who is not here with her but still she will always wish for her better future and well being. That's how she is.
Moving toward her Mami, she embraced the crying lady "take care" She whispered in her ears. Her mami smiled in between her tears "I will miss you" Suman cried and hugged her tightly. Next she hugged her Mamaji who blessed her with love and happiness.
She then looked at Shreya, who was standing at the corner. She chuckled still crying and made her way toward her best friend, a sister she never had. Once when they fighting, Shreya told her that she will dance when Suman will get married. Crying what's that?
Shreya shifted her gaze to the ground to control her tears, she is the tough girl who doesn't cry. Between them, Suman is more expressive in terms of crying, Shreya hides it all but at this moment, even Shreya couldn't stop her tears from falling.
"Someone said she will never cry at my wedding. " Suman asked brushing the tears away from her best friend's face who tried to swat away her hand.
"I am not crying you are crying. " Shreya said and embraced her best friend ever so tightly. The scene was so heart breaking, seeing an emotionally strong girl like Shreya crying loudly.
Shravan and Pushkar exchanged glanced looking at them but didn't make a move to stop the best friend crying their heart out.
"Be a good girl in my absence." Suman said crying. Shreya's hold on her tightened hearing her. She doesn't want her best friend to go anywhere.
"I can't promise. " Shreya replied making Suman chuckle.
Suman looked her shoulder when she heard him. "Lets go" Shravan said eyeing both of them. His heart ached watching both of them.
Shreya's hold on Suman's hands loosen. She couldn't stop crying when she saw them going away. A handkerchief came in her view few seconds later and she looked at the owner.
Pushkar offered her and she accepted after a minute. Their equation during their best friend's wedding has changed for good. Now they don't judge each other every second and behaves cordially.
Nirmala, Ramnath and Dadi welcomed them home happily.
Suman gulped looking at the stairs and that at her lehenga. In the wedding hall, Shreya was there to help her the whole time, there were so many instances when she was about to fall but Shreya got her back.
"Ahem! " Shravan cleared his throat and got her attention finally. With an amusing smile, he reached out for her hand. Holding her hand in his with a delicate grip he whispered " I won't let you fall ever. "
Suman couldn't stop the smile and red hue spreading on her cheeks. She looked down in shyness and tried to free her hand from his but his grip was not letting her. She gave him a pleading look to let her hand go but he shook his head.
"If you don't want to hold my hand I have a better option. I can carry you in my arms." He said raising his one eyebrow with an amusing glint in his eyes. He tried to free her hand to take a step toward her when she moved back a bit with a shocked face and her hold on his hand tightened.
"I think this is fine. " She replied looking at the stairs while he nodded his head suppressing his laughter. They went upstairs holding each other's hand. Indeed he didn't let her fall even when she was about to slip two times due to her clumsiness but if you ask her she will claim it is due to her heavy lehenga.
★★★★★★
So finally I am back with an update.
One of the major reasons for the writer's block was how to write the wedding scenes. I was confused should I elaborate or keep it brief. And now that I am done I don't know how it has come out. You guys tell me how was it?
I will be waiting for your thoughts.
