Chapter 12: Imported Goods AKA Leo

"Summer I'm sor-"

"Forget it mum, I know it's been a couple of weeks but I think you are forgetting that I spent 17 years dealing with an alcoholic parent." I say not even looking at her as Kevin and I help mum stumble into her room.

"I'm not an alcoholic Summer, I just am living the life I didn't get to experience when you kids were younger." She slurs in defense as Kevin lowers her to the bed.

"It's not our fault you got yourself knocked up." I snarl.

Kevin looks up sharply, "I know you are angry Summer but she is still your mother and you need to respect her."

"Respect her?" I ask incredulously as I gesture towards the blonde who was mumbling "Just trying to have fun." With left over vomit on her clothes and her makeup old and cakey.

Kevin sighed and with a look that ended the conversation I left the room and him to feal with my drunken mess of a mother.

Lying in bed, I ponder my reaction to tonight's likely event. It's happened before, plenty times actually but tonight was different. I thought she was finally growing up. She has a nice boyfriend, she has regular shifts at work and I haven't caused any trouble so why does every time she goes out, she fails to know when to stop.

Sighing I roll over and rest my head on my pillows so I can see the TV screen displaying a re-run of "Puberty Blues".

Slowly my eyes start to droop when my phone pings.

I open my eyes and groggily reach for the phone muttering the F bomb more than once before I feel the slim device secure in my hand.

Imported Goods AKA Leo: Hey are you okay babe?

Biting my lip when I see the last word I reply,

Me: Never been better, for what better way to end the night then to hold your grown mothers hair back as she spews her guts out??

Imported Goods AKA Leo: Sounds like a wild night but don't be too hard on her Sum.

I roll my eyes and chuck my phone onto the bedside table not bothering to reply. I'm over people defending her actions. I mean sure she isn't always pissed and isn't abusive but who wants to tuck their mum into bed and calm them and dress them because they are to drunk to care for themselves?

No one.

The next morning to no surprise I was up well before my mum but I was surprised to see Kevin in the kitchen with a cotton shirt and boxers on reading the newspaper with a cuppa in front of him.
