The new semester brought a mountain of stress. College and university applications were due at the end of the March and midterms were right around the corner.

Oikawa told his sister about his plans to major in astrology. She said she would support him no matter what but didn't seem too enthusiastic about the idea. Honestly, she shouldn't have been judging him, especially when she had yet to get a degree in anything.

Kuroo started his internship at the university later that month. He was excited, seeing as the experience was something he'd been preparing for, but it didn't really line up with his midterms. It looked like the rest of his spare time would be spent studying for the next while.

While Bokuto was enjoying his time with Akaashi, he too was not exempt from applying for college. As planned, he would be getting a major in business but a minor in kinesthetics. The thought of taking over the family company still frightened him. It was a big responsibility, one he wasn't sure how he would handle. The good thing about going to college was that Kuroo and Oikawa were also applying to the same university. Still, just because they were all applying, didn't mean they would all get in. And if Bokuto wanted a real shot at getting accepted, he had to pass the upcoming midterms.

Bokuto sighed, twiddling his thumbs. Was he serious about passing his exams? Yes. Did that make it any easier to focus during class? No. Under the pad of his thumb, he could feel the calloused skin from his knuckle. Hours of playing football is what caused his rough skin. And despite Oikawa's countless warnings to use moisturizer, Bokuto never listened.

The math teacher droned on about the Pythagorean theorem. To Bokuto, the concept had never made sense. You had to take two sides of a triangle and turn them into squares. And then you took those squares and.. Made them into a bigger square? But then that would make a rectangle. And squares could be split into triangles so didn't it make more sense to double the triangle? Bokuto shook his head and copied down what the teacher had written on the board. Honestly, it didn't matter if he understood the topics. As long as he figured out a way to get the right answer, he would be fine.

Their teacher finished the lesson and passed out worksheets. Bokuto read the first question in his head. What is the square root of nine hundred? Bokuto frowned. How was he supposed to know? There was fifteen minutes until school ended which meant that he could just ask Akaashi for help but that would be a burden on his boyfriend. Bokuto ran his hand through his hair and winced at the sheet on his desk.

WWAD- what would Akaashi do? Reread the question? Hmm. Bokuto reread the question. What was the square root of nine hundred? If he looked at his notebook, the messy scribbles told him that in order to square a number, you needed to multiply the number by itself. So to find the square root... he just had to work backward. Bokuto frowned. What number multiplied by itself gave him nine hundred? From how he saw it, there was no way to find out other than trial and error. At record speed, he punched equation after equation into his calculator. Finally, he came to an answer. After writing down the number thirty, he moved on to the next question.

The following problems didn't seem as taunting anymore. He flew through the questions and by the time the bell rang, he had finished the sheet. Quickly, he shoved his belongings into his backpack and hurried out the door. Akaashi would be getting out of class soon as well.

On the way to the band room, he came across Sugawara. His silver hair could be seen from a mile away so it would've been impossible for his frantic waving to go unnoticed. When Bokuto realized he was waving at him, he paused before making his way over. When he reached the end of the hall, he was greeted with a tired Suga and a less than impressed Sawamura.

"Bokuto, just the man who I was looking for. How is Akaashi doing?"

Bokuto didn't need to think twice before speaking. "He's good, I'm good. We're doing good!"
