It was the second week of June and Bokuto couldn't have been more excited. That being said, he was also insanely nervous. Final exams were this week, but afterwards, he would finally be free.

After the playoffs and Terushima's party, Bokuto studied for hours on end. If he wasn't reviewing with Akaashi in his basement, he was studying with Oikawa and Kuroo. Even the time he spent alone was filled with flashcards, textbooks, and practice worksheets.

After the last mid term, Bokuto had steadily increased his grades from C's to A's. Bokuto was able to keep up with the rest of his classmates. His parents were proud. He was proud. And Akaashi was proud. He could do this. Like last time, he would use the tips Akaashi gave him to work through the test and would bring home yet another high score.

This week, he would come into school for four days and leave after he finished his exam. Each day he would write for a different subject. History, language, and sciences were easy in comparison to math. He'd always found the subject particularly stressful.

"Agaashi, I can't do this!" he whined, throwing up the yellow flash cards they had made together. Akaashi sighed and reached down to pick up the cars for the third time that evening. Bokuto had begun to feel antsier with each passing minute. His week's worth of non stop studying was slowing to an end. Tomorrow, he would wake up early, workout, go to school, sit down and write a test. His preparation would be worth nothing if he couldn't actually write the damn test.

Akaashi set the flashcards down on the desk in a neat stack beside their worksheets. He took Bokuto's hands in his own and instructed him to take a deep breath. Once both of them were calm, Akaashi smiled. Bokuto was perplexed at how his boyfriend could be at peace in such a stressful time.

"Bokuto-san, let's take a break. We've done enough today." Just as Akaashi stood to leave the office, Bokuto caught his wrist.

"Agaashi, I can do it. Just give me one more try. I know all of this stuff, I'm just a little stressed, that's all," he pleaded. Akaashi sighed. Before long, he was sitting back down and ready to quiz Bokuto again. Bokuto was eternally grateful for his boyfriend and his resilience.

Akaashi held up a card, on the front it said derivatives. He thought back to what he'd learned in his classes. Numbers this, calculate that. It was all junk but he knew that derivatives were used in business people's lives. So this might have been a skill he would need in the future.

"Well, it's the rate of change at a time and stuff yeah?"

Akaashi smiled in response and held up the next card. The front said trigonometry. Easy. He knew what it was because he actually paid attention to this lesson because triangles were his favourite shape.

"No sweat 'Kaashi. Angles and lines of a triangle," he answered with confidence.

Akaashi held up another card. Calculus. He remembered this from a couple of months ago.

"Change but like all the time."

Akaashi gave him a slight nod and smile which Bokuto responded each time with a smug grin. They went through the rest of the cards and after they were done, it was already dark out. Both of them were tired and sleep was one of the most important things when preparing for a test. Bokuto and Akaashi ate dinner before getting ready to head back to Akaashi's house.

The night was busy like usual. Bokuto slowed the car to a stop in front of Akaashi's house. Before Akaashi got out, Bokuto caught him by the shoulder. When Akaashi turned around to ask what he was doing, Bokuto pressed a chaste kiss to his forehead.

"Sleep well 'Kaashi. I love you." Bokuto looked into Akaashi's green eyes. And for a moment, it felt like he was falling in love with the boy all over again. Akaashi's lips curved upwards in a smile.
