"How are you feeling Seungmin" I heard Chan's dad ask me while I was about to eat a spoonful of mashed potatoes.
"I'm doing fine sir, my head hurts a little bit though" I replied shyly.
"Dad don't scare the poor boy" Chan spoke up, chuckling slightly
"Oh, sorry if I scared you at all Seungmin" Chan's dad apologized.
I just shook my head and hit Chan's arm lightly, "you didn't scare me sir. Chan just likes picking on me sometimes it would seem."
Chan hit my arm lightly in retaliation. We continued a small little play fight and my arm hit my spoon. It caused some of the mashed potatoes to fly and hit his face. Before Chan could get me back, I stood up and ran away.
"Chan, it was an accident. I swear I didn't mean for your face to get covered with food" I yelled behind me. I darted behind a tree thinking I was safe, but was grabbed by Jisung. I got drug out from the safety of the tree and still being held by Jisung. Chan appeared in front of us, I looked down at his hand and saw he had a handful of mashed potatoes.
"Pay back time" I heard Jeongin yell from the tables.
Right as he yelled that Chan smushed the potatoes all over my face. My arms were let go of and I wiped my eye area clear. Once it was I glared at Chan, who started laughing. I threw the potatoes in my hand at him and started laughing. I heard laughter from behind me and turned around to see Jisung.
"You're next Jisung" I yelled at him in a playful tone.
"Baby, help me" Jisung yelled into the air as I chased him.
"You deserve it, I think I'll let him" I heard Minho yell back. Laughter erupted from the tables and I let Jisung keep running, but I stopped and went back to sit with Chan.
Chan had the potatoes off his face and I went to get a few paper towels but was stopped by Chan reaching for them instead.
"Let me, I feel bad for covering your face in potatoes."
He raised the paper towels up to my face and lightly brushed them across my face. I could feel my face heat up slightly. He looked up and touched my hair.
"It's in your hair" Chan pointed out and he turned to his dad, "can I go help him clean the potatoes out of his hair?"
"Yes you can. I'll save some food for you guys for later, you can have the rest of the night to yourselves."
We both thanked him and Chan took me to his cabin. I felt a little light headed again, Chan noticed and picked me up to carry me up to his room. He opened the door and closed it behind us. Chan led me over to a slightly open door, which was I'm guessing his own bathroom.
"You can sit on the side of the tub, so I can get the potatoes out better."
I nodded my head and sat by the tub. The water was turned on and Chan let me feel the water to see if it was warm enough for me. I told him it was okay and leaned my head back.
The hair wash was over and I was currently struggling to dry my hair since the bandage was still on. I felt a pair of hands take towel from me and lightly dry my hair for me. The towel was taken off my hair and my face heated up again. Chan was now smiling and putting the towel over his shoulder while he handed my a new shirt since mine got wet at the top.
"Thank you" I said while taking the shirt from him.
"I'll step out of the room so you can change, be quick though, I have somewhere I want to show you."
Chan walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. I slipped my shirt off and put his on. Even though I am slightly taller than him, his shirt was still oversized on me. I took this small amount of time to look around his room.
He had a navy blue bed set with a few pillows, and by a few I mean like, seven. There was a desk with a laptop, lamp, and a cup to hold writing utensils. A dresser was in the corner of the room with a small tv on it. His walls had two shelves of books and a self of a small snow globe collection. I smiled at that. I looked at his ceiling and he had it painted black with silver dotting it. That confused me.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when the door open and Chan asking me if I was ready. I nodded my head and walked out of the room and to the front door. I slipped on my shoes and we headed out the door. I followed Chan behind the house and into the woods.
It was completely dark after a few minutes of walking deeper in the woods. I didn't see a root and tripped over it, face planting. I felt a hand under my armpit to help me up. Once I was up the hand traveled down to my hand and held it.
"Since you can't see and I can, you can hold my hand and I'll guide you until we get there" Chan half whispered to me. I agreed to this and started walking again.
*time skip to the place*
Up ahead I could see the woods start to lighten up a little. We entered into a clearing and I was immediately amazed by the sight. Fireflies were everywhere. They were dancing around the clearing in a slow dance. It was absolutely beautiful.
"This is one of my favorite places to go, because of all the fireflies" Chan spoke up behind me.
"It's breathtaking" I breathed out.
I saw him get something out of a bag that I didn't notice. It was a blanket and a small speaker. I helped him set the blanket out in the middle of the clearing and Chan put the speaker on a small rock so we wouldn't kick it by accident.
He took out this phone and started playing a song I recognized as Your Hand In Mine by Explosions In The Sky. He put his phone on the rock next to the speaker and sat down. I sat in front of him criss cross apple sauce, while he sat with his legs stretch out and propped up on his hands.
"My mom showed me this place when I was little. It was our get away. She brought my dad and me here for picnics and what not. It's one of the best places to watch meteor showers" Chan explained with a smile on his face. It was a sad smile though. "That was before she died. My dad stopped coming here. I did too for a time" he stopped talking and looked at me, "that was until you showed up during the summer. It was kind of strange, I didn't know you had come yet, but I felt a strange pull to come back here. But when I was here, it felt like it was missing something, or someone."
I was a bit shocked at first but then I stood up and offered Chan a hand to help him up. He was confused but took it anyways. I pulled him up and started swaying back and forth to the music. Chan was even more confused and I chuckled lightly at him.
"I'm trying to dance with you" I informed him.
He finally got what I was trying to do and pulled me towards him more. I put my hands around his neck and he puts his hands on my waist. Slowly we started a small dance, just spinning in circles while rocking side to side. I had a feeling to instead put his arms around my neck and so I did, and I put my hands on his waist. Once I did so I felt him lay his head on my chest. I felt a small wetness around the front of the shirt where Chan's face was and took it that he was crying.
"I'm sorry about your mom. And I'm glad you brought me here tonight" I whispered to him as I hugged him.
"Thank you for making this place feel welcoming again" I heard Chan whisper back to me.
I placed a small kiss on the top of his head and hugged him tighter. I wasn't going to let him go now that I found him. I could tell he might be the one for me. He was different and a bit broken, but he was absolutely amazing as a person. I sent a silent wish to his mom to keep us safe, mostly Chan, and thanked her for bringing him into the world the way he is.
