your eyelids fluttered open, still heavy with fatigue. you blinked to clear your blurry vision and let out a groggy exhale. you stiffly lifted a hand up to rub your eyes, and you noticed that your arms were wrapped in bandages.

the memories of the forest came rushing back to you, and you sat up abruptly. lightheaded from the sudden movement, you gazed around the unfamiliar room as spots danced in your vision.

sunlight flooded in through a small window, illuminating the simply furnished interior of the room. aside from the bed, the only other piece of furniture was a small wooden desk and matching chair on the far side of the room. you spotted your boots, caked with dirt and dry blood, by the door. although the room itself was relatively small, it was so empty that it felt uncomfortably large.

you lifted the blanket and hung your feet over the edge of the bed. placing a foot on the ground, you recoiled at its coldness. you tried again, taking small, burdened steps. your legs were still sore, but not painfully so.

you trudged over to the door, taking another sad glance at your filthy boots. you tried to twist the doorknob, groaning in frustration when you found it was locked. of course it was. you'd known jaemin a whole two minutes and there was no way someone like him would leave you to free to just roam around.

you went over to the window next. it, too, was frustratingly impossible to open. it was around midday, and you held a hand up to your forehead to block out the harsh glare of the sun. you could see nothing other than the clear, cloudless sky outside. 'where the hell am i?' you wondered with your eyebrows furrowed.

suddenly, the door to the room opened and a boy walked in. you vaguely remembered him as being one of jaemin's friends. he was carrying a bowl of steaming soup, his bright smile a stark contrast to your deep frown. "you feeling ok now?" he asked you.

you ignored his question, your narrowed eyes never leaving his face as he set the tray on the desk. "where am i?" you asked.

"that's not something you need to know," he replied, smile widening. "eat up."

you glanced over to the bowl of soup, and suddenly your mouth started to salivate as hunger overtook your senses. you looked back to the boy, who was regarding you with amused, crescent-shaped eyes.

"jeno."

you paused. "what?"

"my name's jeno."

"oh. um, hello jeno. i'm y/n."

"i know," he replied, still grinning as you blinked at him. then he gestured to the tray and every other thought left your head. you rushed over to the desk and sat down hurriedly. you picked up the spoon and were about to dig in when you paused and asked, "this doesn't happen to be poisoned, does it?"

your question made him chuckle. "no, it's not. why, is there someone threatening to kill you?"

you ignored him again and scooped up some of the soup. you blew on it, noticed jeno staring at you expectantly, then brought it to your mouth and took a sip.

the warm, buttery taste enveloped your taste buds, and you closed your eyes as you moaned in satisfaction. you put down the spoon and brought the bowl to your lips. you devoured the soup, ignoring the burning feeling on your tongue.

when you had finished every last drop of the soup, you set down the bowl and wiped your lip with the back of your hand. you turned back to jeno, seeing him with his arms crossed and a smile playing on his lips. you cocked an eyebrow.

"the nurse will be here later to replace your bandages," he said.

you started to ask him a question but he had already taken the tray and backed out of the room, closing the door behind him. you heard the click of the lock and sighed.

you stood up from your chair, aching to find an escape as fast as possible. you made your way around the room, searching for anything that could help you escape. upon finding none, you collapsed onto the bed and closed your eyes. you strained to remember how you had ended up in the forest, but everything seemed to have completely vanished from your memory.

a couple moments of deep concentration later and all you had managed to recall was a blurry image of the forest floor and... was it a pair of boots? it looked like it, but you weren't sure. you were frustrated that the only thing you could remember was completely useless.

occupied in your thoughts, you didn't notice when someone had unlocked and opened the door. they paused when they saw you lain on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. they knocked on the doorframe. you jumped out of your skin, and within seconds, you had leapt out of bed and slammed them against the wall.

you realized that it was jaemin, whose astonished expression mirrored your own. he quickly recovered from his shock and, taking advantage of your own stupor, flipped you around so now he had you pinned against the wall. "you're lucky you're injured, or i'd be a lot less gentle with you."
