the boy pushed through the already thinning crowd, dragging you behind him. you didn't bother protesting, but you were sure as hell tired of being forced around by strange guys. you tried prying his hand off in earnest, but his grip was as strong as steel.
"hey, can you just tell me where you're taking me? i can walk normally," you grumbled.
he didn't respond, and you rolled your eyes. men really are all the same.
"sir, i'm sure you have great reasons for kidnapping me, but i really wouldn't bother if i were you. i just lost all my money, and i don't know if you've noticed but i do make quite an annoying captive."
"i suppose, but i hear organs are worth a lot right now," he said casually. you paled.
"s-surely you're not going to..."
"if you don't shut up, maybe your tongue will be the first to go." you could not figure out whether he was joking or not, but he sounded dead serious so you decided just to keep your mouth shut.
he led you along in silence. it was around noon now, and the sun was shining brightly in the sky. you were sweating and desperately wanted to shed the thick coat that jeno had given you in the early morning.
you gnawed on your bottom lip. this guy couldn't actually be taking you away to sell your organs, could he? well, at the very least, you hoped you were worth a lot of money. as if reading your thoughts, he looked back at you and smiled mischievously. you still could not decipher if that meant i'm joking, or i'm very excited at the thought of splitting you open and becoming rich off of selling your organs.
you cringed mentally at the thought. you wished whoever had left you in the forest just finished the job and ended you there. you cursed jaemin for sending you on this mission and landing you in this mess. the next time you see him, you'll definitely be giving him a piece of your mind.
at last, the boy seemed to stop. the two of you stood in front of a small restaurant. the aroma of food made your stomach growl and the boy turned to you, grinning.
you raised an eyebrow. "what, you wanna fatten me up so i'm worth more?"
he snickered. "i like the way you think."
he led you into the restaurant and forced you to sit at a table, your back to the front entrance. he sat down on a chair opposite from yours. you eyed the entrance, trying to gauge how far it was from you.
"don't even think about trying to run away," the boy said. with an annoyed groan, you turned back to him.
"the thought hadn't even occurred to me," you replied with a sarcastic smile.
he huffed humorously in response.
the waiter came to your table, asking, "what would you like to order?"
with a mysterious smile the boy said, "we'll have two bowls of cold noodles, please."
the waiter nodded politely and promptly left. you licked your dry lips. you hadn't eaten since yesterday, and you were dearly missing the delicious meals you were served every day back at the palace.
you noticed the boy across you studying you curiously. you jutted your chin out at him, a challenging look in your gaze. his lips quirked into a cheeky grin. "where are you from?"
"not here," you replied bluntly.
"i can tell. why'd you come to the city?"
you shrugged. "felt like it."
"being difficult now, are we?"
"yeah, i don't particularly want my organs sold off."
he laughed. it surprised you how pleasant his laugh sounded. "do i really look like someone who'd actually sell your organs?"
"well, you're kidnapping me right now. selling my organs isn't that far off."
"trust me," he said, a humorous glint in his eye, "your organs will not be touched."
"you know, skin is an organ too. the largest organ in your body, in fact. i guess that means i can just walk out the door and you won't be able to touch me."
he laughed again. "princess, there's plenty of ways to kill you without having to touch you. and then since you'd be dead i guess i'll just sell your organs anyway. beats having to drag a dead body around."
you glowered at him.
with a huge grin, he leaned forward, resting his chin on his hands with his elbows on the table. "what, does the name 'princess' bother you?"
"among many other things, yes," you replied.
"well, princess, i don't believe you've told me your name yet. unless you want me to just keep calling you princess?"
before you could bite back with a remark, however, you noticed his eyes dart to somewhere behind you. you turned to look, but he grabbed your wrist.
"let's go to the restroom," he said, his eyes still focused elsewhere.
"what? together?!" you nearly shrieked, still trying to turn back to see what he was looking at.
but he pulled you up and towards the back of the restaurant. you wanted to protest, but something about his serious expression stopped you from saying anything. you followed him closely as he walked as quickly as he could without looking suspicious.
he looked back at you, muttering, "try to keep your head down."
you did as he asked. you bent your neck at an angle where your face was mostly obscured but you could still see around you. the boy risked another glance backward before pushing through a set of doors at the back of the restaurant, letting out a deep exhale of relief as the doors swung closed behind you.
you pulled your wrist out of his grasp and turned to him angrily. "what the hell just happened?"
he pushed his hair back and sighed. you were reminded of jaemin and frowned, trying to get that bitter excuse of a man out of your mind.
"listen," the boy began, "i can't really tell you everything right now, but i'm gonna need you to trust me."
you scoffed. "yeah, as if. sorry, but you've given me every reason not to trust you."
"well, i just saved your neck back there," he said, scowling.
"and you think that makes me obliged to believe you? you wouldn't even let me look back, how am i supposed to know there was even something to save me from?"
he shook his head, exasperated. "look, princess—"
"don't. call. me. that."
rolling his eyes, he continued, "look, lady. i promise i'll explain everything to you later. we just need to get out of here and back to..." he faltered.
"to where?" you demanded.
"it doesn't matter. you're coming." he grabbed onto your wrist again, but you wrenched it out of his grasp. you were sick and tired of being led around like a dog.
"i can walk on my own." you glared at him.
he shrugged. "whatever. but any funny business and i'll consider actually selling your organs for real."
