Episode 1: Five Again

"Bye, Cole!" Jay shouted. Everyone else shouted their farewells as the Destiny's Bounty flew over the Shintaran mountains. The whole team had returned to the Ivory City to see Cole's wedding to Queen Vania. The royal couple waved back and Cole swept Vania in for a kiss. Jay sighed sadly as the Palace of Shintaro disappeared from view. "Gosh, I'm really going to miss him." He said with a bittersweet smile on his face. "He's been my best friend ever since I joined the team." Kai smiled. "We're all going to miss him." Kai reached for Skylor's hand and she leaned on his shoulder. Life had changed slightly since Nya's departure from the team. They had asked Skylor Chen to join their team, to make sure there were enough people to split up into groups of two if needed, and she had become the orange ninja. "We are approaching Ninjago City." P.I.X.A.L.'s cool voice came through the loudspeaker. Kai walked over to Lloyd, who was standing by the helm staring off pensively into the distance. "What's up, Lloyd?" he asked. Lloyd ran his fingers through his light blonde hair. "Miss Demeanor. And the trucks of vengestone." he said seriously. "They're still bugging me. We haven't figured out anything about them, or even seen them in a while and that concerns me." Kai nodded. "And now Cole's gone. We don't have a full team anymore." "I'm sure we can get by." Kai said with a smirk. "Five ninja who all know spinjitzu, airjitzu,-" "Cyclondo!" Jay interrupted from the deck. "Whatever." Kai continued. "And all have Elemental Powers, I'd say we'll be okay." Lloyd shrugged. "You're right." He cracked a smile. "Thanks Kai." Suddenly, P.I.X.A.L. interrupted again with an emergency announcement. "Everyone report to the bridge. I repeat, report to the bridge. Miss Demeanor has been located and is moving fast. It appears she is transporting another load of vengestone."

All of the ninja ran to the bridge. P.I.X.A.L. pulled up the video feed on the plasma screen. "She was last seen passing Jamanakai village. We can head her off down here." She indicated to a pass just left of the main road. Lloyd immediately took control. "Kai, Skylor, you two, behind the trucks. Jay, Zane, take the right. Me and, uh, I'll just handle the left myself." P.I.X.A.L. looked at him concernedly. "Are you sure? Typically, that would be a two person job." "Indeed." Zane chimed in. "Logic would suggest that the best course of action would to be to have two people there." Lloyd looked unsure. "We don't have enough for two. I can take it." he said more confidently. Each team member selected a mode of transport. Kai selected the Kai Fighter, Lloyd chose his Green Ninja cycle, Jay got on his Lightning Bike, Skylor took the Prototype X-1 bike and Zane fired up his ShuriCopter. As they neared the suspects, P.I.X.A.L. kept them informed from the Bounty by way of their headsets in their hoods. "Miss Demeanor!" Kai shouted. She whipped around at the mention of her name and recoiled in shock as she saw the approaching vehicles. The villainess quickly replaced that look with one of confidence and excitement. "Ha! 'Bout time you losers showed up!" Miss Demeanor screeched. "You are so going down!"

She ignited her flamethrowers and called for her goons. "Hm. You seem to be one player short." She shouted nastily. The ninja herded her into the pass. Suddenly, the truck slammed on it's brakes and made an about face, breaking through Lloyd's line of defense. Lloyd yelled and swerved out of the way just in time and the other ninja went speeding ahead. They quickly made a U-turn but the truck already had a head start. They were left in the dust. As she sped  away, Miss Demeanor cackled. "Did you really think that would work?" she snarled. "My master is far too smart to let his plans be ruined by some rainbow-gi'd teenagers!" The ninja regrouped at the Bounty. "That didn't work." Lloyd said aloud, voicing the understatement of the year. He was still trying to slow his racing heart from nearly being mowed over by a repurposed noodle truck. "You're gonna hate me, guys," Skylor began. "But I think that we need another team member." The ninja all began shouting at once. "NOT! As a replacement." Skylor yelled over the noise. They all quieted down again. "But think of it this way. This new member would be just that. Just a new member. It's kind of obvious that we're not doing so hot." "Speak for yourself!" Kai broke in. "We need an even number. And someone who can get us back together." Skylor finished. Lloyd winced noticeably. "The last time I suggested something like this... But I think we do. " he mentioned. Jay nodded. "Cole- We can't ever replace Cole. But we do need another person." he put in. "I will contact him and see what he has to say." Zane offered. Lloyd nodded too. "Alright then. I guess we have a plan."

Cole said it was fine and that yes, they needed a new team member. Now for the hard part. "Uncle Wu?" Lloyd asked tentatively. Master Wu was meditating. "Where do you find a ninja? I mean, I'm sure you weren't the only one who took on pupils. We've decided that we need to add a new member to our team." Wu nodded. "I knew this day would come." he said sagely. "Yes." Lloyd fidgeted. "Yes what?" he asked. Master Wu arose and walked to his desk. He pulled a piece of parchment out of the drawer. "Long before time had a name, " the old man began. "My father, the First Spinjitzu Master, trained a select few to become Masters of Spinjitzu. My brother and I were among the six trained. Today, only four remain. Each, excepting my brother, went on to train the most powerful warriors in all of Ninjago. Perhaps it is time we paid them a visit." Just then, Misako popped her head in the doorway. "Mom!" Lloyd said joyfully. He wrapped his mother in a large, but gentle, bear hug. She hugged him back tightly. The threesome walked out arm in arm. Lloyd looked at the parchment his uncle was holding. It was a map! Lloyd grinned. "Looks like we're going on a fieldtrip!"
