The principal's office was crowded.
There were six kids and two adults in it, not to mention the principal himself, who seemed to take up half the room. The six kids were Erica, Zoe, Chip, Jawa, Mike, and Warren. The adults were Erica's father, Alexander Hale, and her grandfather, Cyrus Hale. Alexander looked worried. Cyrus looked annoyed.
"Now that our seventh agent is here, we can begin. We have gotten word that SPYDER has a new plan. So we've devised our own. Operation Hunting Lion is-"
"Hold on. You said I'm the seventh agent. But not counting the principal, there are nine of us here. So which two aren't going?" I asked. I thought I knew the answer already, but I didn't like it.
"Neither me nor Alexander is coming on Operation Hunting Lion," Cyrus answered calmly, but there was a flicker of unease in his eyes.
Yup. Called it.
"Moving on," Cyrus continued. "You are going to the Amazon. There, you will meet two agents who left Spy School a few years ago. They should help you with this. When you see them, give them this letter." He handed Erica a crisp envelope.
"Until you reach these two, Erica is in charge. When you reach them, Erica will share command with the older one. Understood?"
We nodded.
"Good. Your plane leaves in an hour. Go pack."
