Proposal

We packed all the things we needed to bring back to our town, Fina. Kanina rin ay tumawag si Kuya Torce at tinanong kung ano raw ang pasalubong na dadalhin ko sa kaniya. Akala ko pa naman mangangamusta sa kapatid niya. Kahit hindi naman siya tumawag ay may binili akong mga pasalubong para sa kanila. 

It's already Sunday and later on, the small concert of Silent Sanctuary will behold here in this resort. Siyempre di ko pa rin maiwasang manghinayang. 

Lumabas muna ako sa room para magpahangin. Ako lang muna dahil si Zanth ay bigla bigla nalang umalis nang hindi nagpapaalam sakin. Ewan ko din don, he's acting strangely earlier. Tahimik lang siya kanina habang nag-iimpake. Hindi ko na rin siya tinanong kung anong problema o ano ang mga iniisip niya. I sensed it. 

Sa paglabas ko sa hotel ay agad kong nakita si Zanth na may kausap na naman sa telepono. He touched his temple and wrinkled his forehead. I walked slowly towards him to perk him up. 

"Just make sure everything will be settled. God… I've never been this nervous before," he mumbled.

I raised my brow as I keep on listening. 

"Basta… Make it perfect… Bye… Thank you." he said recklessly the put the telephone back. 

Agad-agad akong pumwesto sa likuran niya. When he turned in my direction, his eyes widened and jumped a little because of the sudden arrival. Pft. Ang cute naman niyang mabigla. 

"K-Kanina ka pa diyan?" he asked me nervously.

I shook my head. "Ngayon pa lang. Bakit, sino ba yun? Mukha kang stress sa tinatawagan mo ah." tanong ko agad. 

He slightly caresses his ear. Huli ka balbon! Liar. He usually does that when he's going to tell a lie. 

"It's about the upcoming proposal of our company," he answered calmly. 

I formed my lips into an 'O' because his answer seems very convincing. But never mind, he's Zanth, there's nothing to doubt about.  "Arat. Tambay tayo sa dagat. Remember, last day na natin ito?" sabi ko.

He smiled at me. "Let's go." 

He pulled me closer to him and grabbed my waist. We wander around while talking a lot of things about life. Hanggang sa napadaan kami sa harap ng batang nagtitinda ng suman. stopped walking to see the little boy. He had stains of black ashes and sweats ran down on his face. Karga naman niyang ang kapatid niyang babae sa kabilang braso habang hinihipan ang apoy.

I gave Zanth a glimpse with concern all over my face. He ripped my head gently and leaned it against his shoulder. He kissed the top of it as he took his wallet from his pocket. He fetches five thousand pesos and immediately lends it to the kid. His good stunt melted my heart. It's hard to resist your boyfriend who's a good man.

"Hi little kid, can we buy all of your stocks in suman? My wife craves for it," he casually said to the kid. Uminit Naman ang aking mukha sa kanyang sinabi. Just his simple word could bowl me over.

Napangiti naman ang bata sa sinabi niya. "Sige po. Pero sobra sobra naman po yung ibinayad niyo po." magalang niyang isinabi sa kay Zanth.

"No. No. No. Keep the change basta sa amin lahat ng paninda mo." I interfered in their conversation. 

Zanth gave a reassuring smile to the kid. "Yeah. She's right."

Kalauna'y tumango rin ang bata sa amin at ibinigay ang mga paninda niyang suman. "Thank you po, God bless you po sa kabaitan ninyo!" giliw na giliw niyang tugon sa amin.
