My stomach's growling. It must be lunchtime.

With a yawn  I stretch my arms and head towards the door. This time, it easily opens. Looks like the girls are serious about letting me vander around.

Well, time to head to the kitchen and eat.

I walk down through the corridors.

"Stupid! Stupid!" - ???

I stop by one of the doors on the hallway. It's open a crack. Peeking inside, I find Trixie lying on her bed. She's punching her pillow while muttering under her breath!

"Stupid!" - Trixie

Out of the three of them, she's the most unhinged. Better to keep my distance. I don't wan't to get into a fight more than necessary while I plan to escape.

But she seems troubled.

I knock softly on the door. "Hey."
Trixie wheels around. It looks like she's been crying. "W-what are you doing here?"
"Nothing. I was just wondering why you were sobbing."
"I wasn't sobbing!"
"Oh, really? I could hear it all the way out in the hallway."
"You must have hear wrong! I was simply punching my pillow." She points to her pillow, which looks like it's been mauled by a bear.

T-these vampire girls are no joke. They're really strong! It's best not to get on their bad side, but Trixie is clearly upset.

"Look, I'm trying to mind my own business, but if someone's bothering you, then maybe you can tell me about it."
She crosses her arms. "And why should I? It's not like you care."
"Well, seeing as how you're going to suck my blood a month from now, maybe we should be communicating openly."
"Forget it! You're not part of this family!"
"Is that why you're so frustrated? Because of your family?"
Trixie hesitates for a moment, then shakes her head. "Like you said, none of your business."

I walk slowly into her room. Things are strewn about everywhere.

"Your place is a mess. No wonder you need a cleaner."
"Hey! W-why are you suddenly strolling in here? I didn't give you permission!"
I laugh "I didn't give you permission to kidnap me either, so I guess we're even."
"That again? Listen. We need you alright, so enough with the kidnapping thing already."
"I get it that you need me, but I'm still not sure for what purpose. Are you out to dominate the world?"
Trixie rolls her eyes. "No. We just want..." She stops talking.
"What's wrong? Why are you so afraid to tell me?"
Trixie swallows hard but doesn't continue.

I finally get close and sit down next to her. "Listen, you're right."
"What do you mean?"
"This whole affair, I have no idea what's going on, but you and your sisters don't strike me as bad people."
"What would you know?"
"Especially, you. You may act tough, but I have a feeling that deep down inside, you're really a kind person."
"T-that's not true! I'm as bad as they come."
I smile. "And if it means that my staying here will help you and your family, then I may start thinking about it from your perspective. See you later, Trixie. Hailey already bit me yesterday, so try not to do the same." I place my hand gently on her shoulder. Surprisingly, she doesn't brush me off, but I don't let it stay for too long.

Once I've said my piece, I get up to leave. Trixie still hasn't said anything, but as I reach the door and look back, I can tell that she's calmed down.

What am I doing? I must be crazy trying to console my vampire kidnappers! But strangely enough, I feel like I did the right thing.

After dealing with Trixie, I end up in the kitchen. Like I saw yesterday, the refrigerator seems to be filled with all sorts of vegetables. Strangely enough, there's also some meat inside. By the looks of it, it seems to be wild game from the surrounding forest.

Why the girls would bother with meat is strange since they only eat blood, but I quickly take advantage of it and cook me something nice. I have a decent lunch alone. There's no one here. The girls seem to have retreated to whenever they usually spend their time.

"Hey!" - ???

Xaxxy suddenly burst into the kitchen. I freeze.

"A-are you here to suck my blood?!"
She pauses, then laughs. "Don't be silly. We don't drink blood every day! In fact, we can go on for a month without taking anything."
"R-really?"
"Uh-huh. Although when it comes to your case, it's much more difficult. Your blood is so delicious that we have trouble controlling ourselves. I'm having a hard time resisting right now!"
"Um..."
"Relax! I can still hang on, barely."
"T-that's great."
"Actually. I came here to ask you a favor. I know I don't have the right to ask, but I was hoping you could show a little patience with Trixie."
"Trixie?" My recent memory of her crying comes back to mind.
"What about her?"
"She's taking this a little too hard."
"She's taking it hard? What about me?!"
"Believe it or not, we have feelings too, and Trixie blames herself for what happened to us."
"You mean..."
"We weren't all vampires to begin with. We were once human like you."
"T-that's...."
"Anyway. I was hoping you'd cut her some slack. She's irritable but that's only because she cares about us."
"Okay. I'll keep that in mind the next time I see her."
Xaxxy smiles. "Thanks, Rexer."
"By the way. I want to ask you a question."
"What is it?"
"How did you become vampires?"
"Silly! We were bitten, of course."
"B-bitten?" I rub my neck.
"Don't worry too much. Unless our venom has seeped into your blood, you'll be fine."
"A-are you sure?!"
"Positive. One bite leaves only a trace amount, and I don't think Hailey wanted you to turn you into one."
"Why not?"

Xaxxy looks at me sadly.

"Are you alright?"
She shakes her head. "Never mind. Anyway, please consider what I told you about Trixie. She's not her usual self."
I nod my head reluctantly. "Fine. But you better treat me with a little more respect!"
Xaxxy smiles. "If you do me this favor, then I'll make sure that your stay here is more comfortable."

I watch Xaxxy make her exit...

She wants me to be nicer to Trixie? That's a bit of a stretch. Trixie should be nicer to me! But still, as long as we don't see each other that often, it won't be too hard to carry out.
