"You've been working hard all day?"
"That's right. No thanks to you." - Trixie
"Hey. I've been busy too!"
"Seducing my sister?!" - Trixie
"Ignore her Rexer. Hey, where's Xaxxy." - Hailey
"I don't know, she was just here a second ago.... Huh?" - Trixie
"What was that?" - Hailey
The three of us quickly head towards the source of the noise.
"I was sure it came from here." - Hailey
"Oh, no! Look!" Trixie points towards something in the distance.
It's Xaxxy! She's lying in the middle of the sunlit yard!
"CRAP!" I rush towards her, expecting the other two to follow me.
Strangely enough, they don't move from their spot near the edge of the house.
"Hey! What are you doing? We need to help your sister!"
"W-we can't go out. We have to stick to the shade." - Trixie
"S-seriously?!"
"Trixie's right. It's up to you, Rexer." - Hailey
Without wasting a beat, I rush to Xaxxy's side while Hailey and Trixie watch anxiously close by.
"Is she alright?!" - Trixie
"Oh, please tell us she's fine!" - Hailey
Xaxxy has collapsed on the ground and doesn't seem to be breathing. I flip her over.
How do you check for vital signs on the undead?
"Do something, Rexer!" - Hailey
Here goes nothing!
I flip Xaxxy on her back. She's very pale. It must be her heart. With my palms flat. I place my hands over her chest!
I-is it me, or has it suddenly gotten hot in here?
Without overthinking things, I start to pumping up and down.
She wheezes.
"I-it's working? I can feel her coming back to life!"
Trixie slaps her forehead. "You idiot! She didn't have a heart attack!"
"She has sun poisoning, Rexer!" - Hailey
Sun poisoning?!
"Well, why didn't you two say so!" I quickly lift Xaxxy in my arms and carry her back towards the shade.
Hailey and Trixie swarm around her.
"Oh, no!" - Hailey
"We're too late!" - Trixie
Xaxxy is completely unresponsive no matter how many times we shakes her.
"WAAAHHHH! THIS IS ALL MY FAULT!" trixie begins crying as Hailey turns silent and starts to shake.
This can't be. It's not over yet.
I expose my wrist.
"W-what are you doing, Rexer?" - Trixie
No time to explain.
Opening Xaxxy's mouth. I push my wrist into her fangs.
"Rexer..." - Hailey
We all watch as it pools in Xaxxy's mouth.
C'mon. I know you're still there.
Seconds pass, then...
Her eyes suddenly open and they're a deep red. Xaxxy chomps down and sucks hard.
"N-Not too much."
"Xaxxy!" - Hailey
"You're alive!" - Trixie
I can hear sounds of celebration. But they're so far away.
"X-xaxxy, that's enough." - Hailey
"Hey! Let go of him!" - Trixie
My vision fades...
"Rexer!!!" - Hailey
