Chris's POV;

Chris froze. Surely not. He thought, turning to look at Technoblade who's gaze was still fixated on the warden.

"So?" The keeper said slowly. "Will you accept my offer?"

"No," Dream hissed. "Don't do it, Techno," Technoblade turned to look at Chris, his icy gaze unreadable. Chris stared back, his own eyes shining in the moonlight as he tried to hide his fear. Techno's netherite blade gleamed in the night, far more menacing than Chris had expected.

"Tick tock, tick tock..." The keeper hissed. Techno glanced at him before looking back at Chris and then pacing forward. No. Chris thought as Techno neared him. "People never change. Deep down they're always the same. Deep down he's a killer," The keeper chuckled maliciously. No. Deep down he's just a confused kid. That's who he was when I met him. A sarcastic, difficult, stubborn, little boy. Chris shook his head as Techno halted in front of him, only a few paces away. Chris felt a hand grip his own and glanced to his side to see Karl staring at Technoblade, his eyes wide.

"It's fine," Chris hissed quietly, pulling his arm away. "We're friends,"

"Are you though?" The keeper's voice asked from beside his dragon. "When it comes down to the guy who captured him or the guy who freed him, we all know who he'll choose,"

"You're talking about me like I'm not standing right here," Technoblade hissed.

"You aren't going to kill me," Chris said. "I know you won't," Techno said nothing.

"But why wouldn't I?" The question surprised Chris and he said nothing, at a complete loss for words. "After all that torture, everything you caused, why wouldn't I kill you?" Only a day ago we were laughing. Talking like old friends. And now he's actually going to murder me. No one said anything and Chris almost forgot that half the village was standing only a few paces away from him.

"We were friends, Techno," Chris hissed. "I did everything I could to make your life better- which was really hard and almost cost me everything several times,"

"You were merely delaying the inevitable," Technoblade said coldly. "We both knew I'd kill you someday," Chris didn't answer. This has got to be part of the plan. He's probably just tricking the dragon keeper so that he can surprise attack him- that's it. That has to be it.

"Are you really going to kill me? Because you're scaring me," Chris hissed.

"Goodbye, Chris," Techno said, his pale eyes glistening like the stars above his head. He's not- he won't. Chris told himself, even as Technoblade raised his sword. Chris pushed away the doubt, sure his friend wouldn't just betray him like this.

And then the sword tore through his throat.

Technoblade's POV;

"No!" Karl cried as the blade Technoblade was holding sprayed droplets of blood across the dusty earth.

"Give me Dream," Techno demanded, biting back the feeling of remorse as Chris stared at him in shock, his legs beginning to shake. Blood pooled around a deep wound Techno had left on his neck, one that would no doubt be the end of him.

"I didn't think you'd actually kill him- but here," The man chuckled, grabbing Dream by the shoulder and shoving him forward roughly. Dream staggered forward, stopping a few paces away from Chris, his emerald eyes glistening with shock.

"You- you killed him," Dream hissed. Techno bit back a reply and turned to look at the dragon standing a few yards away. Without hesitation, Techno pushed past Dream and reared back, plunging his netherite blade into the dragon's neck and twisting it.
