Not even a day at Hogwarts, and it already started as a bad year once again.
Going down into the Slytherin common room by herself was a mistake, everyone turned to her as all their discussions silenced. Even Narcissa stared at her, but the gentle worry slipped through her usual cold eyes.
Andromeda wasn't there, she never was since she slipped out of the Slytherin common room early in the mornings to escape the harsh words of her housemates. Even though Bellatrix should hate her, she couldn't help but pity her and be jealous of her at the same time. Andromeda had managed to escape the ways of her family, she had managed to escape the traditions that Bellatrix has become to hate.
Bellatrix was stuck in a twisted mess of traditions and rules of her family, that sometimes running away doesn't seem like a bad idea. Though she knew her family would hunt her down, and probably crucio her to death.
Shaking her thoughts away, Bellatrix managed to slip out the door with Claudia and their friends.
"Bellatrix!" She heard Aurelia call her name from the left of her, and suddenly her morning took a turn for the better as the rest of her friends stood behind Aurelia.
"Morning." Michael greeted whilst eating with his mouth open, causing Kaiko to glare at him.
"Morning," She replied.
The four of them stood in of the dark corridors close to the great hall, all eating food Aurelia managed to steal from the Kitchens since none of them wanted to deal with their housemates so early in the morning.
Their laughter echoed as their faces broke into bright smiles, but vanished as soon as the morning class bell rang.
Wiping the crumbs off her clothes, making sure to be careful so she didn't hit Aurelia who was leaning against her. Bellatrix asked, "What do you guys have first?"
"Potions with you," Kaiko answered.
"Herbology," Aurelia said, waving as she headed towards the Herbology huts.
Separating from Aurelia and Michael, Kaiko and Bellatrix made their way to the potions classroom. The wave of different disgusting smells already made their way through the dungeon corridors, as the quiet sound of raindrops hitting the windows echoed around them.
Students quickly filled the room, their conversations becoming just quiet whispers as they lesson began.
Minutes ticked by, as the professor taught them how to make a love potion. Leaving the instructions on the board to remind them how to do it, the students quickly scrambled into pairs near the cauldron areas.
"So, when are you going to admit your feelings to Aurelia?" Kaiko asked, causing Bellatrix to almost fall into the Cauldon.
"What?" Bellatrix spluttered, trying to hide her crimson cheeks.
"I'm not stupid," was all he said back.
Not responding, Bellatrix carried on making a love potion with the occasional help from Kaiko. The loud bubbling echoed in the small potions classroom as the professor began to look at the almost-done potions.
"I'm incredibly disappointed in you two, 5 points from Slytherin," The professor said to Lucinda and Zachary, as their potion overflowed and a small spillage fell into the cracks of the tilled floor.
Waving his wand to clear the mess up, he didn't notice Bellatrix and Kaiko sniggering in the corner of the room. Both of them were hidden under the dim light of candles, and students blocking the professor's view of them.
A day she thought was going to be bad, turned out to be an excellent one after all. However, she knew the good early days of the school year would never last long. Atleast not with a war coming to Hogwarts itself.
