Her back pressed against the hard wall, Rose blew out a puff of smoke. It had been her way of realising the stress and tension she felt for so long for a while now.

She was a doctor, she knew how bad it was for her lungs but it helped her forget, all she needed was to forget.

Rose lowered the cigarette from her lips, staring up to the sky she sighed, bringing the cigarette to her lips once more she breathed in the smoke.

She closed her eyes as she let the escape through mouth, feeling a floating feeling again, peace with no worries.

“Smoking isn’t allowed.” A voice spoke. Instantly opening her eyes she searched where the voice came from, it was so soft and smooth — a woman’s voice.

Spotting the younger Asian girl staring at her with amusement, Rose choked. “Shit sorry.” she instantly threw the cigarette to the ground, with her sneakers she burnt it out.

Rose wore a confused face as she looked back at the girl who had been laughing, Rose furrowed her eyebrows.

“And language, please!” she giggled. Walking up to the bench, the girl took a seat. The younger girl stretched her arms exposing her hospital band on her wrist that had been earlier hidden with her long sleeve.

“Shouldn’t you be in bed though.” Rose asked pointing at her wrist. Following the girl to the bench right beside her.

Shyly smiling she pulled her sleeves down covering the band again. “I won’t tell if you won’t.” she innocently smiled, her perfect white teeth exposed.

Rose giggled, digging into her pocket she brought out a piece of unopened mint gum. Throwing it into her mouth she shook her head agreeing. “Sure..” she agreed looking at the girl.

Breathing out in relief the girl took her time and studied the older lady. She had never seen her lovely face before, if she did, she would surely remember it. Her faint green eyes, her dark hair pulled into a mess ponytail, some escaped locks of hair free and blowing with the wind. “I haven’t seen you around before.” she bluntly said still staring at her.

Rose turned meeting her stare, she stared back into light brown eyes. “I’m new.” Rose announced looking away from her beautiful eyes.

“A nurse?”

Shaking her head once again ‘no’. “I’m a doctor.”

The girl’s mouth hang open as she processed the information. Closing her mouth she cleared her throat, “You’re so young.” she said in amazement.

Rose blew a bubble, popping she looked at the sky. “I get that a lot.” she said lazily, bored with hearing the same words over and over.

Sensing her boredom, the girl again. “It’s a good thing.” she reassure, sincerity in her voice.

Turning towards the girl, Rose furrowed her eyebrows. “Really?” she asked.

The Asian girl nodded with a smile. “Yeah. You’re really pretty.” she mumbled the last part out, a bit more like a whisper.

But Rose heard her, smiling she rested her hand on the wooden table still looking at her. “Right back at you.”

“You don’t have to lie, I know I’m not.”

Rose looked at her in disbelief. Had the girl ever seen herself in a mirror. Her light blue hair, wavey rest above her shoulder, and her eyes were magnificent. Her facial features perfectly on her face, her smooth skin.

Rose shook her head before she over thought it or thought about her a bit more then she should have. “And who lied to you.” Rose snorted.

The girl shrugged, looking down to her feet she sighed. “If they lied. Then I’m a liar.” she mumbled.

“That you are.” Rose agreed, gaining a glare from the girl, Rose smiled. “You are beautiful, gorgeous, hot—”

Rudely interrupted by the girl’s laugh, Rose narrowed her eyes at her. “Hot?” the girl questioned not believing her at all.

Rolling her eyes Rose sip out the piece of gum, tossing it in the trash can she looked back at the girl. “Yes hot. Are you not?”

With a head nod she agreed, “Of course I’m not!” she said as though she had been staring the obvious.

Humming Rose shook her head, “Almost forget.” the girl stared at her waiting, Rose smirked looking the girl in the eyes. “You’re a liar.”

“I’m — Oh, I see.” she quieted down, biting down on her lower lip she had no argument.

Rose giggled, stretching her arm out she smiled at her. “I’m Rose LaSalle.” she introduced herself. Taking the hand in hers, she couldn’t get past how warm and soft her hand was.

“Pretty name ma’am.” freeing her hand from her grip she grinned. “Fancy!” she squealed.

Rose huffed, “Sounds like a wine to me.”

“A fancy wine.” the girl winked. Rose laughed, “That would taste nice.”

“I bet.” the girl agreed even though it was a whisper. “I’m Melody Tune.” she introduced herself.

Thinking it was a joke, Rose laughed out loud no believing the girl. “Tune? You’ve got to be kidding me.” it didn’t go well at all with her name, it was redundant.

“But I’m not. My parents thought it would be fun—” being cut by Rose’s laugh the girl sighed, rolling her eyes she spoke again. “It’s not.” she stated

“It is.” Melody pouted, crossing her arms in front of her chest demonstrating that she was upset. Rose cupped her face, “Aww come on don’t get mad.” she as well pouted.

“Give me something then I might forgive you.” Melody wiggled her eyebrows, daring Rose to say yes.

“Something like?” Rose asked moving her hands away from the girls face.

Melody smiled, once again her teeth exposed. She tapped her left cheek, “A peck on the cheek.” she squealed. Rose didn’t though she chuckled shaking her head. “Come on, it’s always been a dream of mine to be kissed by a beautiful smart woman.” Melody playful shoved her.

Raising both her eyebrows at her Rose questioned, “You’ve had fantasies about women?”

Melody nervously bit her lip, stretching out her hand she smile. “I’m bisexual. Did I not mention?”

What Rose did wasn’t at all what she expected. Pecking the girl on her left cheek she moved away, taking her hand in hers she shook it with enthusiasm. “Hie bisexual, I’m lesbian.” she winked totally taking the girl off guard.

“Melody you should be in bed, stop bothering the new doctor!” A voice shouted.

Coming back from her trance Melody frowned, “Miss grumpy is here. See you around lesbian!” she shouted getting off the bench. Rose looked at her with eyes widened, winking Melody disappeared through the doors.

“Sorry about her.” snapping to the voice’s direction Rose smiled, shaking her head she spoke. “Don’t be, she’s quite the company.” that she was.
