Side by side the two boys walked into the forest. The sun had long set, making them rely on the dim moonlight to get around. As they kept walking, Yeonjun leading them along his usual path, Soobin pulled out his phone to use it as a flashlight. He still kept close to Yeonjun, but would rather be able to see clearly for himself where he was walking.
At the point they were at, it was very easy to get lost. If they looked behind them then they couldn't see any lights from the town, and ahead of them looked to be the same exact thing, nothing but trees and darkness. The leaves swayed in the wind, creating a eerily calm atmosphere. Yeonjun felt like he could finally think clearly again.
"We have a bit more." Yeonjun's soft voice startled Soobin.
The older looked back to check on the boy, showing a small smile when he realized how nervous the taller seemed.
"Are you okay?" Yeonjun turned forwards again, slightly tugging on Soobin's hand to keep them moving.
Soobin hummed, holding onto Yeonjun's hand a bit tighter. "You always come this way?"
"Yeah, I know this place like the back of my hand." Yeonjun responded, his confidence evident in his voice. "There's nothing to be worried about, there's no wild animals around here."
Soobin didn't say anything, releasing a breath instead and returning his gaze to the ground. Yeonjun glanced back again, also releasing a heavy sigh. He walked a bit faster, forcing Soobin to do the same.
In minutes time Yeonjun let go of the youngers hand and pulled at some larger brush, revealing an entrance. Soobin looked between the crawl space and Yeonjun multiple time before doing anything. The taller put his phone back in his bag, proceeding to crouch down, balancing onto his hands and knees before hesitantly crawling through. Yeonjun following quickly behind.
Before them was the most beautiful sight that Soobin had ever seen. A small alcove awaited them, almost looking entirely different from the rest of the forest. Small, colorful flowers lined the long grass in many different places, creating a circle around the center of the alcove. They were completely shielded in by larger bushes and trees who's leaves blocked the outside world out. It was even more beautiful when Soobin looked up, a view of the night sky completely clear from the plants and trees.
Yeonjun couldn't take his eyes off of Soobin, he just watched as the younger took in his safe place. A smile formed on his lips.
"This place is so magical." Soobin muttered mainly to himself, his eyes still caught on the sky.
"Yeah, I think so too." Yeonjun replied in a lowered tone, tearing his gaze away from Soobin.
Soobin looked away from the stars towards the person he saved, the person that's saving him. Their eyes met for a moment before they both looked away.
Yeonjun walked further in, moving to a tree opposite of where they entered. He dropped his bag on the ground and without any hesitation started to pull himself up the trunk. Effortlessly he climbed the tree, sitting on a part of the trunk where the branches broke out from. An old basket still sat there, holding two even older blankets. Yeonjun grabbed the blankets and jumped back onto the ground.
Yeonjun picked his backpack back up, bringing it to the center of the small alcove. He dropped it again and laid out one of the blankets on the grass, an indentation in the growth from how many times he's laid there before. He waved Soobin over as he sat on the old blanket.
"I can understand why you come here so much." Soobin said softly, taking off his backpack and sitting on Yeonjun's left side.
Yeonjun fell back, resting his head on one of his arms and putting the other across his stomach. Soobin hesitantly sat back as well, both of his hands resting intertwined on his stomach.
