Weeks later, the day of Kumiko's departure to Nabu Island has come. It is also the same day as Fumika's discharge from the hospital. The police has taken it upon themselves to ensure the safety of the two sisters as they travel towards the port.
When they arrived, Kumiko was reluctant to even get out of the car.
"Come on, Kumi. It's time.", Fumika nudged her sister gently.
The younger deeply sighed but nonetheless, still complied. The both of them got off of the vehicle as the officers opened the trunk to get Kumiko's things. They then loaded her luggage and a few boxes on the ferry.
"I'm going to miss you Fumika-nee.", Kumiko said as she smiled sadly towards her sister.
"I'm going to miss you too.", Fumika replied and then gave Kumiko a tight, warm hug. The latter reciprocated the gesture as she hugged her older sister just as tight.
Fumika broke the hug first as she took notice of the other passengers loading the boat and the ferry's staff preparing to leave.
"You should get going. It's going to be quite a long ride for you baby sis."
"Don't remind me.", Kumiko pouted making the older one laugh.
Fumika patted her sister's head and hugged her for one last time before sending her off to the ferry. As the boat drove off, Fumika stood still at the edge of the dock with eyes locked on her sister's disappearing figure.
A lone tear escaped her eye as she thought of the life they would have to face now that such terrible things have happened. The things that they thought could only happen in the movies they watched, in the stories they read or the contents of their frightening nightmares once in a while. They were unfortunate enough to experience them and in such a young age too.
"I think it's time for us to get going as well.", Detective Tsukauchi, the man Principal Nezu entrusted them to, said from behind Fumika making her break out from her thoughts.
The girl uttered a quiet 'Yes' and followed the officer inside the vehicle once more. The detective nodded towards the policeman designated to be the driver that day. The car then drove off after a few roars of the engine.
~
After a very quiet ride, the police car stopped in front of a highly familiar building. A familiar man with long black hair that is wearing a black long-sleeve top and pants as well as sporting a white scarf can be seen standing by the entrance.
Detective Tsukauchi guided the girl out of the car while the others get her things.
"Good evening.", the detective greeted the man.
"Is this her?", the worn-out looking man asked while looking intently at the girl.
Detective Tsukauchi nodded and glanced at the obviously nervous girl hiding behing him.
"Miss, this is Mr. Aizawa. He will be the one looking after you here.", Detective Tsukauchi gently mentioned.
At what the detective stated, the golden-eyed girl tilted her head up to intently look at her new guardian.
Mr. Aizawa stared at her in return but was the first to break eye contact.
"Good luck here Miss. May you achieve your goals and be stronger like what you hope to be.", the detective said with a smile as he gently patted the girl's head. This friendly gesture almost made the girl smile as she nodded towards the older man with a determined look.
"This way.", Aizawa uttered as he started walking inside the premises.
Fumika hurriedly took her suitcases and followed the adult man towards her new home.
~
Aizawa noticed the girl slightly being troubled by the heavy suitcases and decided to walk a little bit slower for Fumika to catch up. When the girl was finally walking side by side with him, he took her suitcases in his hand and pulled it instead.
The girl was grateful for the kind motion but she didn't have the chance to thank the man because he already went ahead. Again.
As they approach a huge building within the campus, her nerves were starting to get the best of her. Meeting new people really takes a toll on her sometimes. Not to mention, these people are the ones that she'll live with from now on.
Aizawa walked towards the building porch and opened the door wide enough for the both of them to get in. He then placed the girl's suitcases by the stairs and told her to follow him to the living room.
Today was a Saturday afternoon so there were no classes. It was mentioned to her earlier that the people she'll reside with in this dorm are Mr. Aizawa's first year students.
Fumika is very nervous to live with people her age. She was not used to interact with them as she preferred to be alone, even back at the orphanage. Though there are some who has prejudices against Quirkless people, Kumiko was always the cheerful one so it wasn't hard for her to make friends.
But not Fumika.
The girl was playing with her fingers, harshly scratching the area around her nails to somehow easer her nerves. The skin was already scarring a little bit but she didn't care.
As they got near the spacious living room, various voices can be heard loudly speaking to one another. It was a mixture of feminine and masculine voices and it seemed like there were a lot of them.
Sensing the girl's nervousness, Aizawa took it upon himself to step in front of the girl, giving her something or in this case, someone to hide behind in.
