AN ANCHOR

"Let's go. Sit, sit, sit, sit." I take the seat beside Scott, taking out my economic books and my notepad, to draw doodles in when I'm bored. "We got a lot to cover today. Let's go. Quicker."

"Hey, Stiles, sit behind me, dude." The scruffy haired boy demanded Stiles. Although, he never actually did sit behind him. Allison got there first, so, Stiles ended up sitting behind me. Which I am not complaining about.

"This is so not gonna end well." Stiles leaned over his desk and whispered in my ear, strangely making my body shiver at his breath. "You okay?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." I whisper back, he leaned into his chair once more, leaving me wide eyed.

"I haven't seen you all day." I heard the darker brunette whisper to Scott.

"Uh, yeah. I've been, uh, super busy." Really? Scott is the worst at lying, I'm telling you. Sometimes, I question if he's worse than Stiles.

"When are you gonna get your phone fixed? I feel like I'm totally disconnected from you." The girl asked softly, clutching her books in her arms.

"Uh, soon. Real soon."

"I changed lab partners, by the way."

"Oh. To who?"

Allison smiled innocently, "To you, dummy."

lMe? I mean, are you sure?" Scott questioned nervously.

"Yeah. This way I have an excuse to bring you home and study. You don't mind, do you?"

"I just- I don't want to bring your grade down."

"Well, I mean, maybe I can bring your grade up. Come to my place tonight. 8:30?"

"Tonight?"

"8:30."

And then it hit me. Allison had switched partners to Scott. who was originally my lab partner. Leaving me with her lab partner who was coincidentally Stiles.

"Let's settle down. Let's start with a quick summary of last night's reading. Greenberg, put your hand down. Everybody knows you did the reading. How about, uh..." Coach scanned the room, searching for a teenager to embarrass, "McCall."

"What?" My best friend's head snapped up.

"The reading."

"Last night's reading?"

"How about, uh, the reading of the Gettysburg Address?" Coach suggested sarcastically.

"What?" Scott furrowed his eyebrows, slouching down in his seat.

"That's sarcasm. You familiar with the term "sarcasm," McCall?"

Scott turned to Stiles, whom smiled very smugly which made me sigh a giggle before answering coach. "Very."
