A group of first years are lined up into two rows facing each other, brooms set next to each student.
'Yass! Flying finally.' James grinned, 'I bet by son is an amazing flier- well... not as good as me of course but still good.'
Alyssa smirked as she thought of what James' reaction would be to Harry getting on the quidditch team in his first year.
A witch then walked down the center.
'Good afternoon, class.'
'Good afternoon, Madame Hooch.'
'Good afternoon, Amanda. Good afternoon. Welcome to your first flying lesson. Well, what are you waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of their broomstick. Come on now. Hurry up. Stick your right hand over the broom and say, "Up"'
Harry extended his arm over his broomstick, before summoning his brooms.
'Up!' In unison, Harry and Alyssa's brooms zoomed to their hands instantly.
'Nice!' James turned to her with an appreciative look, 'didn't peg you as a flier Granger. But it's no surprise my son is a natural.'
Everyone rolled their eyes at his arrogance whilst Regulus watching Alyssa in intrigue, not knowing she was into flying.
Hermione looked at them in shock and frustration.
'How did you do that Ali?'
However Alyssa looked equally shocked in awe.
The rest of the class tried to summon their brooms.
'Wow.'
'Up.'
Draco summoned his broom on one of his first tries as well, looking smug until he saw the Harry and Alyssa did it first. Ron struggled to summon his broom.
'Up! Up!'
'With feeling!'
A few students continued struggling, Ron and Hermione getting more frustrated.
'UP!'
Ron's broom then jolted up, smacking him in the face.
'Oh!'
Everyone laughed at his misfortune.
Harry then laughed at him as Ron tried to hide a smile.
'Shut up, Harry.'
'Now, once you've got hold of your broom, I want you to mount it and grip it tight. You don't want to be sliding off the end. When I blow my whistle, I want each of you to kick off from the ground hard. Keep your brooms steady, hover for a moment, then lean forward slightly, and touch back down. On my whistle- 3,2...'
Madame Hooch blew the whistle, and Neville started to rise higher than he should.
Alice paled as she grabbed Frank's arm is worry who had also tended in worry.
'Oh...'
'Mr. Longbottom.'
'Neville, what are you doing?'
'Aah!'
'M-m-mr. Long-Mr. Longbottom!'
Neville started flying off in a panic.'
'Careful, Neville!'
'Whoa! Help!'
'Come back down this instant!'
'Don't you think he would if he knew how?' Alice cried in disbelief at Hooch's inability to help her son.
Alyssa said in exasperation,
'Don't you think he would if he knew how?' Although the worry was clear on her face.
Despite the situation, the two looked at each other with mild surprise with Sirius saying,
'That's weird.'
Neville thrashed around, hitting walls, flying all over the field until he headed for his classmates. Everyone either dived to the side, or moved out of the way except Alyssa who instinctively shoved her hand out in front of her causing Neville to stop suddenly and fall a couple of inches to the floor.
They all turned to her in amazement with Lily saying,
'You did unintentional wandless magic in first year.'
Alyssa flushed,
'It's not a big deal.'
The others seemed to disagree and Alice threw her arms around the girl,
'Thanks you so much for helping him Alyssa!
Of course,' she returned the hug, 'granted it wasn't on purpose, but if I knew I could do it I would of done it anyway.
