Against the Odds - Yizhan (On Hold)

Chapter - 1

"Patient No. 12..." The nurse called the patient.

Mrs. Lucy called, "Zhan dear, come. It's our time now." Zhan, who was playing in the hospital garden, ran towards his mother. Mr. Xiao Chris, who was reading the newspaper, stood up along with his wife to go inside the doctor's cabin. 

Xiao Zhan ran fastly and stumbled while reaching his parents. Chris held Zhan and said, "My champ, Why are you running like this fast? If you fall then your handsome face will be scared and you won't get a beautiful girlfriend in future who looks like your mother." Mr. Xiao just winked looking at his wife while saying this. 

Mrs. Lucy blushed on hearing her husband's cheesy words and said, "Aiya. What are you saying to a 10 years old boy and that too in the hospital? Just go inside and talk with the doctor." The three went inside the cabin to meet the doctor.

The doctor was sitting at his desk reading the reports of Zhan and looked at the door when it opened. Mr. Chis and Lucy entered along with Zhan. The doctor smiled and said, "Come inside. Have a seat." They both smiled and sat in the front chair and Zhan sat on the side chair which is kept for the patient. The doctor Examined Zhan once again and asked, touching his stomach, "Do you have pain now." Zhan shook his head telling him No. The doctor pressed a little more on the other side and when he reached the lower abdomen, Xiao Zhan hissed in pain. The doctor asked, "Do you feel pain in this part?" 

Xiao Zhan nodded his head and said, "Yes. I have pain there. But only a little." 

The doctor looked at the report once again and took one lollipop from his desk. He gave that to Zhan and asked, "Zhan, you go and play outside and let uncle talk with your parents". Zhan stood up from the chair and looked at his father. His father nodded telling him to go and play. 

Once zhan went out, Lucy asked, "Doctor, Is there any problem with Zhan. Is anything serious?" As she was asking this, tears had already welled up in her eyes. 

Chris comforted Lucy and asked the doctor, "Please tell us whatever it is. We don't mind spending money on his treatment. He is our only son. We don't want to lose him." The doctor looked at both of them and was hesitating a little to tell them of his findings, but as a doctor, he had to do it. Chris was losing his patience at the doctor's silence and asked the doctor, "Can you please tell us what's wrong with Zhan? Don't make us anxious." 

The doctor just took a long breath and said, "Look here. Chris and Lucy. What I am going to tell you might make you a little upset. But it's not a big problem. Normally nowadays, I can see many of them having the same way Zhan has. So don't take it the wrong way." Whatever the doctor says, making both of them more and more worried. They thought Zhan was suffering from something big. 

Lucy's tears started to fall down by hearing the startup of the doctor. Chris lost his patience and said, "Can you please tell us directly what is the exact problem he has?" 

The doctor said, "At first I was a little taken back with the reports and that is the reason I asked you to take the ultrasound today and now it confirmed that ZHAN IS A SPECIAL MALE". 

Lucy and Chris were shocked to hear what the doctor was saying. Chris asked, "What do you mean by a special male? Is he suffering from any autistic problems like that? But he behaved normally. We didn't feel..." 

The Doctor interrupted Chris and said, "No, No. It's not a special Child. Zhan is a Special male." Zhan's parents were confused but Lucy had a little understanding and she saw the face of Chris who was looking at the doctor. She understood what the Doctor was saying and her tears began to stream down more. The doctor said to Chris, "It means Zhan can get Pregnant like women. He has both male and female reproductive organs. Most of them don't show signs this early. But as Zhan's health was weak he had the signs now itself. In one way it's good to know now. So we can protect him and we can.."
