Thatcher Grey has just left his wife Ellis, since she'd been having an affair with her coworker Richard Webber. He also left behind his 5 year old daughter Meredith.
Catherine Avery has just travelled to Seattle for a couple of days - her husband Robert recently ran off, leaving her with their 3 year old son Jackson - because he couldn't handle 'being an Avery'. Catherine left Jackson in Boston with her now ex father in law, Harper Avery; the country's best known surgeon.
Catherine and Thatcher are sat next to each other at Joe's Bar. "Another gin please Joe, and one for the lady too" Thatcher said to the bartender and bar owner. Catherine looked at Thatcher and scoffed slightly. "Catherine Avery" she held out her hand. "Thatcher Grey - 'Avery', as in Harper Avery?" Thatcher asked shaking her hand. "He's my ex father in law. Are you a surgeon?" Catherine asked. "No, my wife is. Well soon to be ex wife. She's been having an affair with a coworker for years" "Well I'm sorry to hear that. Wait - 'Grey'? You're married to Ellis Grey?" Catherine and Thatcher spent the night talking and well, they ended up in Thatcher's hotel room....
One month later:
Catherine's POV:
I'm pregnant? Oh dear Lord! That night in Seattle! That bar! Catherine Fox pull yourself together! You love Jackson and you will love your next child just as much!
I'm having dinner with Jackson and Harper. Eventhough he's my now ex father in law, he is still Jackson's grandfather. We just had pizza ordered in. "You're awfully quiet Catherine" Harper pointed out. "For one of the country's best known surgeons, you like to point out the obvious don't you Harper?" I smirked. "It turns out I'm pregnant." Jackson looked at me excited. "Am I gonna be a big brother momma?" "You most certainly are sweetheart" I smiled and put my hand to his face. "Is it-" Harper started to ask. "No. It isn't his." I snapped. "Well this child may not have the Avery name, but they certainly shall be raised as an Avery." Harper said, well it sounded like an order. "I'm gonna be a big brother! I can teach my brother or sister to ride a bike, I can learn about medicine with them!" Jackson is so excited to have a little sibling. He loves his baby brother or sister already! As do I! I smiled and rested my hand on my stomach, knowing that in 8 months I'll be bringing a new life into this world.
