Another Grey, Another Fox

Chapter 21

Caitlan's POV:
Well that was a tough few weeks! Mom went to each therapy session with me. There's been a lot of falls and tears but I'm finally back on my feet! Nobody at Seattle Grace knows that I'm gonna be back. I dropped my stuff off at home and then headed to the hospital. Mom of course told me to take it easy.

I just got to work and changed in my scrubs. Izzie, Cristina, Mer and George are right ahead of me and Bailey and Alex are ahead of them. I snuck up behind them and said "so what'd I miss?" They all jumped. "Jesus Christ, are you trying to give us a heart attack?!" Mer almost screamed. "Well you are in the right place for it." I shrugged. We laughed and hugged and Cristina said "welcome back Twisty number three" and we hugged. "Welcome back Fox" Bailey said as her and Alex came to us and Alex asked Meredith about her mom's surgery tapes. I smiled at Bailey. Izzie suggested that Alex came over and we all watched them together. "Oh yeah, if this were the hell dimension." Meredith said. "So when did you start liking Evil Spawn?" I asked Izzie but she denied it. Me Mer and Cristina smirked at each other. "Are we saving lives or are we having a tea party?" Bailey asked.

Me, Meredith and Cristina were walking a few steps behind Bailey. "I'm about to tell you something Caitlan but you can't bloody scream." Cristina warned me. "Who'd you kill whilst I was away?" I smirked and Meredith started laughing. "Shut up. I'm pregnant." Cristina told me. I was shocked but didn't scream. "It's Burke's" Meredith cut in. I gave Cristina the 'are you serious' look. Cristina just jabbed me in the side.

I got in the elevator, Derek and Richard were in there and Richard had a leather derby hat on - badly covering bandages on his head. "What happened to you?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. "Oh he had surgery" Derek interjected. "Shut up Derek." Richard berated. I just raised my eyebrow. "Welcome back" Richard smiled at me. Then him and Derek started bickering, I just zoned out. A tall redhead doctor then entered the elevator. "I don't believe we've met. Doctor Addison Montgomery Shepherd" she held out her hand which I took. "Caitlan Fox. I've been on sick leave the past few weeks." then it seemed like a light bulb went off in my head. "Oh, you're Doctor Shepherd's wife!" Derek scoffed and said "Satan speaks!" "Actually, I prefer to be called 'Ruler of all that is Evil' but I will answer to Satan." Addison shot back, I laughed slightly. "You're Meredith Grey's sister aren't you? I've heard a lot about you, it's nice to put a face finally to the name" she smiled. I then left the elevator.

I caught up with Meredith and the others. "So I just met Derek's wife." They all looked at me. "What? She was actually quite nice. Although it was awkward in the elevator with her, Derek and the chief - oh speaking of which, y'all couldn't have mentioned that he had surgery due to a tumour?" Mer and Cristina looked at each other but before they could answer, Addison walked up to us. "Bailey, I need one of your interns. It's urgent." Bailey told her to take her pick. "Fox." Addison waved me over. Meredith Cristina Izzie Alex and George looked shocked, but I went with her.

"I hope it won't be awkward between us? I don't want any bad blood." Addison asked. "Of course not, as long as there's no bad mouthing Meredith. I'm not saying you will but-" I started panicky. "I'm not the bad mouthing type. Not to worry. And it's good to see you're loyal." She smiled at me. "Anyway, I've got a mother in labour and need an extra set of hands. You up for it?" Addison asked. "Absolutely."

We went in the delivery room. "Diane this is Doctor Fox, she's going to help me deliver your little boy ok?" Addison introduced me.

The baby's head was crowning. "Okay Doctor Fox, I need you to hold the baby's head as he's crowning. Diane you're almost there just keep pushing." I held the baby's head as Addison delivered him and cut the chord. Blood was gushing out of Diane. "Shoot. Caitlan, can you clean the baby and take him to the NICU whilst I take Diane to the OR?" I nodded.
