Another Grey, Another Fox

Chapter 22

Caitlan's POV:
Well today should be eventful. I really don't have the motivation but I got my surgical career to think about. I came in last night all teary. Jackson and Charles were up still and Jackson immediately got into protective big brother mode. Me and Charles flirt, but it's just to wind up Jackson - Charles has a crush on Reed but I'm the only one who knows. Anyway, Jackson then told Mom who kept insisting on ending Alex, George and Izzie's surgical careers but I told her it's okay.

I went to see Cristina before getting changed into my scrubs. "You pissed with me too?" I asked. "Course not. I know Mer feels bad though so talk to her. Also, Evil Spawn has a good shiner. Nice." She smiled. I laughed.

I got changed into my scrubs and Mer smiled at me, I gave a small one back. I got glares off the other three. Ah well. We all headed out, but Mer stopped me. "Cait, I - I'm sorry for yesterday and what happened at Joe's. I was a bitch and I never should have let Alex Izzie and George treat you like that." Mer pulled me into a hug which I returned. "It's alright, I'm still done with them but you're my big sis. I appreciate the apology. And I'm sorry too. It probably would be best to stay with my brother though. I'm fine there and then your house ain't crowded." I told her and she nodded.

We joined the others with Bailey. "Nice of you to join us Fox and Grey" she said sternly and then looked at Alex's black eye. "Karev what happened to your eye?" She asked. "Caitlan punched him" Izzie blurted out. Bailey looked at me with raised eyebrows. "Don't worry Doctor Bailey, it was at Joe's not during shift, and I can be professional." I told her and she nodded.

An emergency trauma was coming in, so we waited outside for the ambulance. When it arrived, I couldn't see who was on the gurney but we headed to Trauma Room 2. The patient had a stab wound to the abdomen, and it was then when I saw his face. Daniel. The asshat that raped me on graduation. He saw me and he smiled. "Caitlan Fox. Look at you." Oh how I want to make that stab wound  so much worse. "Fox?" I heard Bailey and I saw the others look at me. What the hell is this douche doing in Seattle? I felt myself needing to vomit. I instantly ran out to the closest bathroom and threw up. And then broke down.

Bailey came in, she looked pissed. "Care to explain?" I took a deep breath. "When I was fourteen I graduated high school, I was the youngest graduate. I graduated with my older brother. Anyway, my mom threw a party to celebrate the graduates, I was sat on my bed and one of my classmates came in and raped me. In my own bed." I told her. Bailey's face softened. "But what's that got to do with our trauma patient?" She asked. "He was the one that raped me." What happened next wasn't what I expected: she brought me into a hug. "Tell anyone I did this and you'll be fired." She said with a slight smile. The door opened and it was Addison. "I saw you ran out of the trauma room. Are you okay?" She asked. "Yeah, it's just the patient raped me when I was fourteen. I'm okay" I smiled. Addison put her hand on my shoulder and gave it an assuring squeeze.

Daniel was taken to a patient's room. I stood in the back whilst the other interns and Doctor Bailey saw to him. "Caitlan can I speak to you?" Daniel asked. "No." I said bluntly. "Thank you doctors you can leave the patient" Doctor Bailey told us and I was the first to leave. "So how do you know him?" Izzie asked. "Went to school with him" I said. "You sleep with him?" Alex asked with a smirk. I felt myself about to throw up. "Oh my god she did!" Izzie laughed. I lost it. "Right. We are not friends! Just because we work together doesn't mean you are entitled to know every detail about my life. But since you're so interested. He raped me! I was fourteen and he goddamn raped me! You happy now you know? And unless you want a matching shiner, Evil Spawn keep your nose out of my business!" I exploded. All their faces dropped and everyone was looking at me. Meredith was the only one that knew about my rape. Bailey came out. "Karev. Stevens. You're off my service. Karev go to Doctor Montgomery Shepherd and Stevens go to the other Doctor Shepherd." She ordered. "She's the one that exploded!" Karev tried arguing. "And you provoked her! Don't make me get the Chief to suspend your sorry butts!" They left. "Cait are you ok?" Meredith asked. I nodded.

At lunch, I texted mom and Jackson, they were both worried but I let them know I was okay. Meredith sat with me, as did George, Izzie and Alex. "Look, we're sorry for how we treated you. You didn't deserve that." Izzie apologised, Alex and George nodded. I smiled slightly to show them I forgive them, but I was still pissed. I looked over at Addison, who was sat with Bailey, they were both smiling.

We got paged and we ran to Daniel's room. "Time of death, 1:15pm" Bailey called his death.  I looked on his bedside table, there was a note that read 'I'm Sorry'. I felt my blood boil.

Me, Mer, Alex, Izzie and George got changed at the end of shift and went to see Cristina. She's bored of being stuck in a hospital bed and wants to get back to work.

"Wanna come round for a few drinks Cait?" Mer asked. "I would but I've got plans tonight, I will next time" I smiled and headed home to get changed. The Mercy West guys are having a basketball game against Seattle Press. I met April and Reed at the game. Jackson and Charles were already on the court with the others. Considering that I work at a different hospital, Jackson's friends have welcomed me in their friendship group.

It was a great night, Mercy West won. We went back to ours and had a few beers before Reed and April headed back to their apartment.
