It's been one month since Val had become Overseer of the far east branch. Val's condition didn't improve, if anything it only got worse. Val had a certain doctor Griffin on call for two weeks now, preventing him to get any proper sleep at all, even the increased dose of sleeping pills didn't work out for him at all.
"...I'm telling you Rikodou, you have to destroy the Herrscher, or at least to rob this monster of it's power!!!"
"Listen, I'll say two things about this..."
Val took a deep breath while staring at an infuriated Griffin before continuing."...Number one: Your previous attempts to "deal" with the Herrscher have all been fruitless. I have no reason to believe that your new plan would actually work out this time aswell.
Number two is: Right now the Herrscher of the Void is as docile as can be and Unlike you, I would like to have her as an ally, not an enemy...
Val was filled with a bit more bravery and satisfaction than usual when he said these words as they turned the old man's face to a stone hard expression of anger, Val felt confident and decided to put him in place.
"...Besides, last time I checked, I am now the one who says what to do here and if you don't like it, then split from Schicksal and be branded as a traitor, have a good day."
Without awaiting an answer, he ended the call. Val leaned back in his chair, completely exhausted. The last two weeks were even worse then the first two, putting enough pressure on him to have pulled his second all-nighter in a row- something he loathed more than anything, but he felt like he had no other choice.
He looked up to the clock over his office door. 20 O' clock. Then he looked at the piles of paper on his desk, six piles of at least 30 cm hight, if higher. He held his head in despair.
"Damn it, another all-nighter, at this rate it won't just stay at a small nap tomorrow, only good thing is that I can't have nightmares if I don't sleep..."In that moment the door swung open and Theresa stormed in. She carried another pile of files of at least 60 cm with her. Val was a bit in awe how she was capable of being so fast without dropping a single sheet...However when he saw the papers, his hopes of sleep broke down entirely, his eyes reflected his despair, while keeping a week smile.
"Hey Theresa, I see you have more for me to do."Theresa dropped the files on his desk before climbing on top of the desk herself, giving him a stern look.
"...Let me do this today.""What? No, no, it's fine I can-"
"I insist!"
Val gritted his teeth with a conflicted look on his face.
This was his work that she would take over, how would that be ok? Especially if it's that much of it?
As if Theresa could tell what he thought she jumped down from his desk, then pointed at him with a smug grin on her face.
"I had this job for a long time, that little bit of paperwork is nothing to me! Go out and have some fun!"Val made no attempt to stand up, it didn't sit right with him to push his work on someone else, especially Theresa. He couldn't, right?
"I appreciate what you're offering Theresa, but it's fine. I'll- Woah!!!"Theresa grabbed his arm, pulling him out of his chair with full force, then immediately seated herself on his chair with a smug grin, preventing Val to just get back on it. Her expression then turned serious not allowing any more arguments.
"Oh come on! You can't be serious, I'll do it myself, really!""Not a chance! Now Get out!"
Val raised a finger, still wanting to object.
"B-but I-""Out with you!!!"
