The child's mother started looking around in despair, knowing that they might have followed the kid. Unbeknownst to all, no one had followed her because of the turbulent round-up. the leader of the men took stock and immediately noticed the absence of the girl."Mace, where is the girl!?" he bellowed.
"I don't know, sir, she should have been here..." Mace shrunk back in bewilderment.
"Ugh.... Can't any of you idiots do anything?! Mace! Go get the girl!" he snarled. Then he ran off to capture her with as much haste as a thirty year old Tom Cruise.
On the little hill, the girl strained to hear what was going on. Finally, she heard her mother, who had broken away from the crowd of women and guards.
"Run, Aika, run!" the mother yelled, her red hair spilling out of the tight bun, and the sun reflecting off her tan skin. As she tried to run to aid her child, the blue dress she wore, and she tripped over her sandals. Aika caught her mothers blue eyes, and saw how scared she was. Spurred on by her mothers crys, she started to race away, forgetting that there was an ant nest nearby in her anxiety-stricken haste.
