Suddenly, the world went dead. Silence was a weight, restraining their breath and movement. Fog, so thick and humid it would drown a whale, rolled over the field. Reaching the nest, it paused. Confused, the ants started to whisper to each other. A horn blared in the distance, echoing and silencing their fears. It filled them with steel, and a yearning for the blood about to spill. Flickers of red-gold light danced in the eerie sea of white.

Sound rose high as drums banged and trumpets played. Then silence arose once again, before the clanking of armour started. It had a complex beat that would throw most off, especially when you couldn't see your enemy. It's 'thump, click, click, thump, click, thump, thump' seemed to have no beat in particular. However, this particular beat was used to confuse and intimidate enemies, and the Nest Warriors knew it all too well.

The first enemy breached the fog. Warriors from the Nest knew what species this was immediately. It was the Meat ant, easily recognizable by it's completely red body, save for it's black abdomen. Meat ants are Sugar ants worst enemies. Species of Meat ant are known to raid Sugar ant nests. They are ancient enemies, and go to war often. Except, the Nest had never seen this colony before.

Once fully emerged from the mist, the meat ant transformed into its hybrid form, and started talking, much to the surprise of the Nest.
