Returning Reign

Chapter 28

Flash back to a couple hours before:

As I make my way to the ballroom I hear the excited buzz of people socializing at the Ball and I pick up my speed. I dont want to waste any more time. The long hallways have dozens of doors on either side. As I pass one door in particular it opens quickly and a strong hand wraps around my waist and pull me into the room. I try to scream but the strangers other hand is covering my mouth.

The door is shut and the lights turn on revealing a very familiar handsome face. Nathaniel.

"Was that really necessary?" I asked him annoyed that he almost scared me to death. He smiles sheepishly at me. He is wearing an all black suit that makes his tan skin look beautiful. His hazel eyes glimmer with the light in the room and his brown hair is slicked back neatly.

"Sorry, I needed to talk to you and I saw an opportunity." He apologizes. I looked around and noticed that we were in one of the many guest bedrooms prepared for the foreign royal guests.

"I dont have much time to talk but I wanted to make sure I apologized to you. No matter what happens tonight I want us to still be able to be friends." Nathaniel apologizes for yesterday and he seems sincere. Hes back to being Nathaniel and not the prince.

"Before I forgive you, I need you to forgive me in advance." I sigh as I look up at him.

"Forgive you for what?" Nathaniel asks, confused.

"I havent been honest with you. I am not who you think I am. This," I wave around to me in a dress and the castle around us. "Is all a lie." Nathaniels forehead slightly creases in confusion.

"Then explain it all to me." He pleads with me. As if hes scared that I am going to say I was using him this entire time. One of his biggest fears. Maybe I was.

So I told him everything from the beginning. The letter, my real name, my parents real names, the reason why I came to the castle, to books, the conversation I overheard the King and Vivian having, I told him everything.

"Why didnt you tell me earlier?" he asks me slightly hurt.

"I was not sure who I could trust and I only have one try to get this right." I explained to him.

"I could have helped you a long time ago," he shakes his head angry at himself for not helping me earlier. I grab his shoulder in reassurance.

"I'm fine Nathaniel, I can handle myself." I smile at him trying to reassure him.

After that, I filled him in on mine and Lizzys plan and added his new role into it. The victim.

Yesterday I went for a walk and it was soooo relaxing. 10/10 recommend lol.
