"SO... WHAT EXACTLY happened between you and Loki?"
Bruce's voice was so quiet and his tone was incredibly careful, like he was verbally walking on eggshells.
He and I were trailing behind Valkyrie, who was leading us towards the cells all the fighters were kept - so we could spark the "revolution".
Earlier, Thor and I decided it would be better if I kept my distance from Loki for the time being, so he and I could 1) take a break, and 2) not be distracted.
"Y/N, perhaps you should go with Valkyrie and Banner," Thor pulled me into a corner of Valkyrie's apartment, our voices hushed. "Loki is...unstable."
I scoffed. "That's an understatement."
"I could apologize for a millenia for my brother's actions against you, Y/N--"
"Don't, Thor," I interrupted him. "It's not your fault. He's just so..." I cast a quick glance in Loki's direction and shook my head. Then I sent a quizzical look at Thor. "Ever heard of Katy Perry?"
He furrowed his eyebrows, making it clear he did not.
"She's a musician on Migard," I explained "She sings this song that goes like..." I started to quietly half-heartedly sing, "...'you're hot and you're cold, you're yes and you're no, you're in and you're out...'" I trailed off, "Loki is just like that, you know?"
Thor clasped his large hand on my shoulder. "Indeed, this Perry maiden seems to understand Loki perfectly." He sent me a supportive smile. "Perhaps later you two can work out your relationship problems, once we avenge Asgard."
"Perhaps," I mumbled, my face downcast. Thor tilted his head questioningly. "Are you not planning on trying again with him? I wouldn't blame you."
I sighed, my head swirling with conflicting emotions. "I'm not sure. I lo--" my breath caught in my throat, "I really care about him. Somehow. Even after everything he's done."
Thor suppressed a proud smile towards Loki. "He has that effect."
"Well..." I slowly answered Bruce, "Loki and I have had a...weird thing ever since he attacked New York--"
Bruce almost jumped out of his skin. "New York!? What the hell, Y/N?" He was half scolding me, half shrieking. It would be an understatement to say he took the news terribly.
"No! Nothing serious, Bruce, I swear!" I replied quickly. "There was...uh, tension. After I woke up from my coma, he visited me."
"WHAT?" Bruce was beginning to breathe raggedly. "Did he-- oh, my God, is this some mind control he has over you?"
I shook my head. "He changed, Bruce, I swear. He wanted my help to look after Odin--"
"Odin? Odin the GOD?!"
"You two, shut it!" Valkyrie snapped at us. "Can we try to not bring attention to ourselves?"
Bruce and I tightly clamped our mouths shut for a moment, until Bruce asked me another question quietly. "You know, I trust you, Y/N, but not him. So you're 100% sure you're thinking straight? This isn't some spell he's cast?"
