Trident Member in training Reflection Log #5:
I didn't realize that so much time passed in between this and my last video log. I will try to keep up and do a better job, but it is important to note that in that time, I have been truly dedicating myself to my studies and trying to work through as much as I can. This means that I have a lot to catch you up on, though, so buckle your seat and prepare yourself.
So much has happened since the last time that we spoke, I have made new friendships, built trust with people, been brought back down, started classes, finished old classes, started training in the simulation, and hit a bit of a road bump, but have been back at it since then, more on that later. I suppose I'll start from the beginning and try to fit it all in. No guarantee, though.
Let's start with classes. The last time we talked, I'm pretty sure it sounded a ton like I was dying from the workload. Since then, it has become much more manageable. I am still doing my training with Rex, Jax, Maya, and Rose. They have all been an incredible help and now that I've got a great schedule and everything down, my grades and understanding of all the classes are getting much better and I am much less stressed about them.
One of my favorite classes was learning about Osiris, and I feel that I have so much left to learn about it still. I hope that part of my job in the future will be to go there and research it as much as possible. I think that would be a cool mission to be put on, and honestly it would be helpful for the community. There is so much there that hasn't been discovered, so much that could be so useful and dangerous. Knowledge of things unknown should always be a big priority. I wasn't sure why the people of Trident were so okay with blowing past it like it didn't exist. I think there's even a good chance that the planet has a human population. I also think that may be where the Hydra ran off to when they disappeared.
The herbology class was very informative as well. Cooking basics was interesting the further I got into the class, and I have even started cooking about half of my meals on my own and found outstanding success with it so far. It will take a lot of practice till I would call myself good at it, but I passed the class and feel more prepared for life because of it. The quality of meals that we cook for each other when we study has also increased because of this. No one has complained yet. I doubt anyone is going to start soon.
Combat training with Maya allowed me to test out of the first combat class that they offered. I am currently in the level two combat class and loving it. I am covered in even more bruises than when Maya was training me, but you can really see the progress that I am making. I even hit Maya twice, which impressed her more than it did me, I think. She certainly had a significant look of shock on her face. That was satisfying, and a sign of how much I've grown in that aspect. This also led me to the decision to pick the military division of Trident to pursue. I can still be a medic in that division, which will allow me to learn more medically, but Jax said that I showed the most promise in that division. The more I learn, the more I find myself drawn to it as well.
I've completed some other classes as well. Jax says that I am about halfway through the program. Another couple of months and I'll be ready to take my permanent place here and start working and going on missions. I honestly can't wait for that. I am learning a lot, and I am very glad to be, but I am ready to get out and start working and doing things to build myself up even further. The last couple of months have really helped me to focus on the long-term goal, instead of what is going on right now. I can see lots of things on my horizon and I honestly can't wait.
