"You are like a dream, Calum." I mumbled while played with his long fingers as we lay on the grass in the park. We gazed at the stars talking about the various topics that popped into our heads. "A dream I never want to awake from."
"These past few months have gone by so quickly, and everyday that I'm with you makes me feel as if I'm on cloud nine. And that is one of my favorite feelings ever." He replied and entwined our hands together.
I didn't reply, I let his words float through the air like a balloon that was released by accident. I, rather than talking, stared at our hands, deep in thought.
Our hands, much like our skin tone and size, were very different. My hands pale, like the rest of my body, were plain, no scars, blemishes or freckles. Yet his hands had a tan complexion had a few freckles, a scar and even tattoos. We were completely different, but somehow that worked for us. It may be weird that we stay up very late and go to strange places. But that is just how we are, weird but in the best ways possible.
"I still can't believe that summer is almost over." I whined changing the subject after the long and silent pause.
"I know it makes me cringe to think that I won't be able to see you at four in the morning, every morning." He sighed and turned on his side to face me. I studied his face before opening my mouth.
"What crazy idea do you have?" I know the face he is making means he wants me to do some crazy thing with him. Then I'll chicken out, like I always do, and he will say something along the lines of how memorable it would be to do it. This is a never-ending cycle and he knows it.
"Not every idea that I come up with is crazy." He defended himself as if it actually mattered.
"Are you sure?" I countered back, narrowing my eyes at him.
"No, this is the craziest idea that I have ever had." He laughed and began to stand up walk away from me. He didn't look back as I called his name various times, tell him to stop, slow down, or tell me what it is. He continued to look straight forward with a smirk planted on his lips.
"I want to know what you are getting me into, Calum." I firmly stated for what seems to be the hundredth time within ten minutes.
He finally looked at me, but quickly dismissed my comment and pursued this adventure.
I began to space off, with Calum not talking and it seeming to be a long walk I stayed silent. My eyes trained on the uneven pavement, every now and then a crack would stretch across and I would step over it. Even though I am almost an adult, I wouldn't want to break my mothers back. I dismissed my childish thoughts and turned my attention to the sky. The stars still shining, but by the position of the moon it must be at least four thirty in the morning.
I had began to realize where Calum was taking me. I haven't been here in at least a year, the last time that I had come, I was accompanied by my father.
Calum turned to me once we stopped in front of the tall chain gate that enclosed the course. "Welcome to the most amazingly, spectacular, fun adventure that you will encounter in your life."
"Careful with how many adjectives you use, it might not add up to be that great." I laughed at the fact that he had used sporadic hand gestures, "Can you please explain to me why you made me walk all the way here?"
I didn't realize that he had just made me walk two miles, the most I've walked in a long while. I must have not realized the distance because whenever I'm with Calum it seems like my brain is in hyperdrive.
"Well my dear," He grabbed my hand and brought me closer, "We are going to steal a golf cart."
