Vikram Malhotra, CEO
Take a deep breath. In and out, I can do it. Yeah, I can. I knocked on the door.
"Sir, here Miss Mannat Roy, is appointed as your new assistant, you may provide her with her duties, good day."
The HR manager left the room. I met his eyes, shock, adoration, frustration, anger all passing through them all at once.
Okay... No amount of breath control would have prepared me for this.
FlashBack
It's been four days, four days since I smiled genuinely, four days since I felt good, since I felt alive.
374 missed calls, 704 messages all unanswered and all unread.
Every time, I heard footsteps, outside the room, I'd get my hopes crushed of seeing him again.
Yesterday the doc allowed me to go for walks around the garden, but I refused to leave the room, I didn't step out, not once.
"Here." Pihu gave me the juice, I gulped it down. "The weather is amazing today, sunny and breezy. A stroll?"
"I'm good." I looked outside the window, it was a good day indeed.
"Di!" She raised her hands. "Don't you feel suffocated, you'll feel good, for me, please."
"Pihu, I'm good, right where I am." It came out harsher than I meant.
"Mish! What the fuck is your problem? You gotta stop acting like a fucking zombie." Adi roughly pushed his hair back.
"Till when are you gonna hide in this room, you have to face it. Whether you like it or not."
I felt tears form in my eyes, I was still looking the other way, hiding my tears. I hate how pathetic I've become. "I want to be alone."
"Really!" He chuckled humorlessly. "As you wish, Pihu is going back today, I'm dropping her at the airport." He left the room banging the door.
I felt her wrap her arms around me, from behind, her head on my shoulder. "Everything will be okay."
I held her hands, nodding. "I'm sorry." My voice was not more than a whisper.
She held me tighter. "I'll call you once I reach." She pecked my cheeks, once, twice, and then showered me with them.
"Stop!" I guffawed at her silliness, started laughing with me.
"Bye."
"Bye."
Adi's POV
I jammed the door of my car. How I wished I could kill that bastard. He didn't deserve Mish, the pathetic excuse of a man.
Mish's behavior was scaring me, she'd practiced her fake smile perfect, hiding her pain from god knows whom.
I clenched my jaw, punching the car again.
"Adi!" Pihu held my hand, examining. "Are you okay?" She looked worried, but her statement agitated me.
Okay? I was far from fucking okay.
I snatched my hand from her and buckled myself in. She followed me, there were tears in her eyes, she blinked.
Shit.
"Pihu, I'm sorry." I looked her way. She looked at her hands, nodding her head.
I sighed. I reached out and held her hand. Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink, but she didn't move her hand away.
