[The following morning inside Zeulon Kingdom's Scholar Institute]

"And why would I want to do that?" asked a female scholar to Verus.

"Come on, it's just for a couple of months until Chezu returns. Plus, you owe me one remember?" responded Verus.

"No Verus, I'm sorry but as you see we're really busy right now. The King ordered us to clear out all the books and equipment here since this institute is moving to a different location. So no means no. Find someone else to do it for you or better yet, why not do it yourself and save yourself some time? Listen, you should go, I need to get to work."

"Fine, three small bags a day."

"Excuse me?"

"I'll pay you three small bags of gold a day."

"Make it two medium bags."

"What? That's a bit too much! Four small bags?"

"One medium bag, take it or leave it, Verus."

"Very well, you start today."

"No, I start tomorrow. I need to ask permission from the Grand Scholar first."

"You mean, your father?"

The young lady sighed, "yes, he's going to freak out once he finds out I'm not helping with the tasks here. Okay?"

"Okay, don't be late tomorrow."

The female scholar left and so did Verus.

[At the Central Market]

Kuzzan and Lucius have already started their morning physical training.

"I d-don't think I could do another lap. My body's s-still sore from yesterday's t-training. You go on w-without me Kuzzan."

"Toughen up Lucius! Do you think Priscus would let you join the army if you can't even do two sprints around the market?"

Lucius rolled his eyes, "fine."

The lads continued with the training and stumbled upon some murmur's coming from a man and a snake humanoid, which caught their attention. The lads stopped and eves dropped.

"Hey, did you hear about the High Mage who lossst at the underground tournament yesssterday?" asked a snake half-beast buying from a store.

"Yeah, I heard she got beat up pretty badly, lucky for her she survived," answered the storekeeper.

"That'sss true, not only that, but the Head Medic who took her in, found out that she wasssn't a High Mage."

"What? How could they tell?"

"Becaussse High Magesss have their cresssts permanently inked on their upper arm as a sssign of their loyalty to their work but when the Head Medic examined the mage'sss broken shoulder, there was no cressst mark."

"That's illegal, was she imprisoned for impersonating a High Mage?"

"The Head Medic tried to call the authoritiesss but once the sssoldier got to the medical room, the patient wasss nowhere to be found."

The two gentlemen continued with their conversation.

"That mage was supposed to be the winner," said Kuzzan to Lucius.

"W-what do you mean? She was s-sent flying by that cyclops y-yesterday," said Lucius.

"I saw it, I saw the beam of light that temporarily took her vision. That's why she stopped right before attacking. If you ask me, that tournament is a scam. Someone must be manipulating the outcome of the battle!"
