"Bee it's five in the morning what the hell do you want?" My voice was raspy and low. Morning voice wasn't the best on me. I shuffled around on my bed rubbing my head switching my phone from my right ear to my left.
"Ok game plan! We're gonna meet at the front of the school at seven am SHARP! and we will go see Mrs. Adams and sign you up for LEADERSHIP!" Bee screamed that last part scaring me and causing me to drop my phone on my bed.
"Geez Beatrice!" I inhaled sharply as she quickly responded
"You'd better be there Lia!"
"Yeah ok I'm going to back to bed goodnight"
"I'm serious don't-" I hung up the phone cutting bee off. She'll most likely get mad at me for that later but that's for future Lia to deal with. I set an alarm for six-thirty and threw my phone on the floor. Snuggling into my bed drifting back to sleep.
~time skip to school~
As I was walking I saw Bee standing at the front of the school just as she said. I kept walking till I reached her. She eyed me scrunching up her nose...
"Your late," Bee said in a mean tone
"Sorry maybe if someone did wake me up at five in the morning I would have been here in time." I rolled my eyes at her. Bee quickly grabbed my wrist and dragged me into the school.
The loud talking and crowded halls made me wanna shrivel up and die. There were kids everywhere you looked.
"Mrs. Adams should be in her room ok!" I nodded my head not caring anymore.
"Lia come on!-" At this point, I was zoning Bee out not on purpose but simply because whatever she was talking about I didn't care for. Bee noticed me zoning out and rolled her eyes at me annoyed.
"Fine ya know what I'll talk to you ok!" Bee said enthusiastically.
"Cool," I really shouldn't have come to school today. I dipped my head back groaning as Bee entered Mrs. Adams's room. She made a quiet knocking sound on the side of the door which caught Mrs. Adams's attention.
"Ah, good morning girls how can I help you?!" Her chipper teacher morning voice made me wanna vomit. Why do all teachers talk like that?
"Hi, Mrs. Adams I was just wondering if you have any spots left open for" as Bee started to talk I tried to slip away since I was behind her. But Bee quickly noticed and held a firm grip on my wrist so I couldn't escape. She gave me a look as she was saying 'don't even try it.
"As I was saying..." Bee went from looking at me back to Mrs. Adams "I was wondering if there were any spots left in leadership? My friend Dahlia here really would love to join!" Bee's voice matched Mrs. Adams's chipper expression. I think I'm gonna be sick.
I made a groaning sound. And then felt an elbow in my gut. I looked at Bee shocked as Mrs. Adams quirked a brow at us. She removed her hands from under the desk and clapped her hands together.
"Aw yes of course there's always room!" Mrs. Adams smiled happily
"Dahlia was it?" Bee pushed me forward towards Mrs. Adams. I looked back at her shaking my head. She nodded in approval trying to encourage me.
"Uh just Lia..." I stuttered
"Well Lia I think it's excellent you would like to join leadership! But I need to ask you some questions if that alright?!" Mrs. Adams kept a warm smile on her face. When I looked behind me Bee was gone. She was so dead. I couldn't say no now could I?...
"Umm sure" I scratched my head and took a seat at the closest table near her desk dropping my bag to the floor.
"Alrighty! do you do any after-school activities?" As I sat there I took in her features her curly brown hair and her red dress that matched her red coffee mug...
"No"
"Hmm ok then do you get well with others?" She asked as she took a sip from her red mug.
"No"
"Oh well on a scale from one to ten what would you say it would be on how well you get along with others?" She asked placing her mug down tapping her nails on her wooden desk. I didn't answer right away...
"One being bad and ten being amazing" Mrs. Adams gestured with her hands for me to talk.
"One" I simply stated... I mean I wasn't lying. At least I was being honest with her. When Bee suggested leadership sure it intrigued me just a bit but I didn't say I wanted to join.
Maybe Mrs. Adams will think my answers are bad and not let me join. But Mrs. Adams didn't look mad or bothered by answers. All she did was chuckle a little.
"Do you have a big friend group or small?" She asked
"Small" is more like microscopic but I wasn't going to let her know that.
"If you had to choose any plans to do on the weekend what would they be?" Mrs. Adams held a pen in her handwriting as she asked me questions. Why was she writing?...
"Stay at home. Most likely alone."
"I see... well my dear I would love to have you on your team." Her words were clear which confused me.
"What-t? But??" I shuffled in my seat almost falling off.
"But my answers I- why do you want me on your team?" Did I sit there still unsure? She gave me another warm smile.
"Your answers made it clear you're in desperate need of connections with others." I scoffed at her conclusion.
"No, it doesn't I'm fine as I am" I uncrossed my legs and stood up grabbing my bag off the ground.
"Look why don't you stop by after school we have a meeting I think you'll enjoy you can meet others make friends!" She said
"A charity case?" I tucked the chair in swung my bag over my shoulder
"I beg your pardon?" Mrs. Adams said
"So I'm a charity case?"
"Not a charity case my dear think of it as an opportunity!" My bottom lip was in between teeth as I was thinking... I turned around and walked to the door stopping when I heard Mrs. Adams speak again my back facing too her.
"I hope to see you there Lia" I silently stood there before leaving her classroom. Going to find Bee...
