BEFORE THE CLEARWATER'S

CHAPTER 26

SETH P.O.V

one month later

Savannah didn't give herself long to be sad about her car. Thankfully because Edward has a soft spot for her, he let her use the Volvo until we could find a different car for her. She had gotten a job down at Newton's, where Bella used to work in high school. Mike Newton had taken over the business for his parents after college.

I swear I was gonna chop his hands off. Savannah came home everyday that she worked telling me that no matter how many times she told him that she was engaged, he would still flirt with her. Of course she just took it as him being nice. I did not. It was clear that he only hired her because she was Bella's daughter.

Bella and Jacob had not made it easy on her that was for sure. Any time she so much as tried to reach out to see her siblings, they shot her down. I knew that she was trying not to let her affect her, but it did. I still sometimes caught her reading through her texts. I wanted to punch Jacob in the face. He had her hurt so bad that she doesn't really talk much anymore.

She only really talked when I talked to her first. She went about her day in silence. Sometimes I just stood back and watched as she did laundry or organized the fridge. I knew that it was eating her alive. I just wanted to hold her and try to get her to see how much I loved her and supported it, but it wouldn't matter. Because she had spent her entire life trying to please her parents.

"You've always been their favorite." Ryder said.

"Oh please. I've spent my entire life trying to be perfect. They held me to a standard that they don't hold the rest of you to." She rolled her eyes. I watched her heart break as he got into her car and drove off. It was another restless night.

I had been searching for weeks for a car for her. I even went down to Jacob's shop to see if he had anything. In the meantime, wedding plans have come to a full stop. Most things were already planned and settled. She was suppose to be going for a dress fitting in two months but said she didn't want to go. Alice was trying her hardest to get her to go. She refused to go without me.

"Do we really need a wedding?" She asked me as we were getting ready for bed.

"If you don't want a wedding we won't have one." I answered. She knew that I would give her whatever she wanted. She knew I wasn't going to force her down the aisle. I wanted whatever she wanted.

"I just..." She trailed off. "I know they wouldn't want to go and I don't want that type of disappointment." She commented.

"We can go get a marriage license. Just have the wedding for them." I shrugged. "Or the reception. You can still wear your dress." She didn't seem like she wanted to.

The next day there was a cookout down on the beach for the Fourth of July. She insisted on going. I knew that nearly everyone in La Push was going to be there. It made me nervous knowing that Bella and Jacob were going to be there. She spent all morning getting ready. I was making dirt cake while also listening to her getting ready. When she came downstairs she was in a white string bikini that left nothing to the imagination. As beautiful as she looked, I didn't want other guys looking at her. But I knew she was only doing it to piss Jacob off. She was never allowed to wear bikini's like that when she was living with them.

"I'm ready." She smiled. In this type of situation, I needed to bite my tongue. Almost everyone knew that she was mine and she was not to be messed with. Doesn't mean there wasn't going to be any wandering eyes.
