CHAPTER 01,
Harry James Potter
(Fuck, He's a Gryffindor)
──────────
september, 1991
THERE IS SOME MAGIC to coming back to King's Cross on the first of September. And Mikaela isn't saying that, because her dad apparated her here, followed by her mum and brother, aunt and cousins. It just feels magical to be back at a place one holds dear to their heart.
Mikaela always thought it's kind of stupid, though. Apparating to King's Cross from their home, when her dad could simply apparate to Hogsmeade, from where she could walk to Hogwarts and be there within minutes. But eventually, she came to the conclusion that there was something special about sitting on the Hogwarts Express with her friends for hours, waiting to reach the Hogsmeade station from which a horseless carriage would take her to the castle.
Almost as if Mikaela didn't actually spend most of her summer in Hogsmeade, working at the Three Broomsticks, helping Madam Rosmerta and her dad. They're co-owners of the infamous magical pub, and Mikaela's been helping out since last year for a bunch of galleons a month, so she can spend those in shops like Honeydukes, or Zonko's, or — most preferably — buy new quidditch equipment. Over this summer, she actually managed to save up for the newest Nimbus 2000, some money for it contributed by her aunt and uncle, and some by her parents. An early birthday present, they'd called it. But she knew her family just wanted to make the girl happy.
And it wasn't like they couldn't afford it anyway. The Three Broomsticks is doing extremely well for a pub, Aster Song-Ambrose is a world-renowned potioneer who invented the lycanthropy cure and Cassius Ambrose is the Head of Department of Mysteries, meaning that Mikaela knows literally nothing of his job, besides the fact he's the boss.
Mikaela smiles at her family and bites her lip, knowing that one person is missing. That being her uncle, but he's busy working at the Ministry. Honestly, Mikaela doesn't even think the extended family has to be here, considering that neither of her cousins are old enough to attend Hogwarts yet, though Jamie is going to attend next year.
Still, Mikaela finds it sweet. That Aunt Aster cares enough about Mikaela and Theo — her younger brother — to accompany them to King's Cross. Obviously, Jamie and Violet followed, since both girls can't wait for the day they'll get their acceptance letters from Hogwarts. And, Jamie's best friend is currently about to get on the Hogwarts Express for the first time ever. (Mikaela notices the slight scowl, and the jealousy that Jamie feels on the surface. Though essentially, she's happy. Next year, they'll be at Hogwarts together.)
They get onto Platform Nine and Three-Quarters quite fast, only then running into the Lupins. Remus and Dinah Lupin stand with their daughter, Lia. She notices The Songs, smiling brightly at Mikaela, Jamie and Violet. The latter two grin back, running in for a hug with the blonde girl, sharing her excitement — yeah, that's Jamie's best friend.
