CHAPTER 13,
Too Early For Trouble
(Weasleys Own a Flying Car?)
──────────
september, 1992

JAMIE'S ENTHUSIASM ABOUT STEPPING onto the Hogwarts Express is palpable to every person present. She can barely stay in one place, nearly jumping up and down, the way she's bouncing.

Mikaela almost pities the black cat trapped in Jamie's arms. Almost. He's a family cat to the Song-Ambroses, named Kaz. The poor male cat has a limp, and the only reason they even have him is because Jamie found him roaming the streets of London, alone and starved. She couldn't let the cat be. So, now he's going to be allowed to roam Hogwarts grounds instead.

"Can we sit in a compartment with you?" Jamie asks Mikaela auspiciously, eyeing Theo and Lia, too.

"Won't you be sitting with Lia? She's got her friends, too, y'know..." the Slytherin Keeper says. She doesn't want to refuse Jamie, but she'll be sharing a compartment with Robin, Kim and Natalie like always.

Jamie is best friends with Lia, whose group of friends includes Harry Potter, the Weasley boy, Ron, and Hermione Granger. They wouldn't all fit in one compartment, and Mikaela isn't all too fond of the idea of spending several hours with a bunch of twelve-year-olds either.

"I'm sure you'll get to see a lot of Mikaela at school," says Uncle Cass with a reassuring smile. He's made the time to see his eldest daughter off for her first year of Hogwarts with Aster. "But you'll have to find friends your own age, too, JJ."

The brunette girl frowns. "I already have friends," she says.

"But we won't get to see each other as often." Mikaela shrugs.

"We will if I'm a Slytherin!"

The Slytherin Keeper chuckles. "That is true," she says, "but what makes you a Slytherin?"

"I'm—" the girl starts, already at a loss. She looks to her parents. "What makes Slytherins Slytherins, mum?"

Aster laughs softly. "Usually ambition," she answers, "resourcefulness. Just wanting to be the best in general. Loyalty to what you believe in... it's individual for everyone, darling."

"You were named after James Potter, too, so chances are, you might end up in Gryffindor," Theo remarks matter-of-factly.

"That's hardly a House Sorting factor." Mikaela deadpans.

   Theo shrugs. "It is now."

Lia grins. "That would be amazing!"

Jamie purses her lips, not saying anything to either. She doesn't know which house she'd want to be in. Lia is a Gryffindor, Mikaela in Slytherin and Theo in Ravenclaw. She loves all three of them, and wouldn't mind being in either of the houses. Hufflepuff wouldn't be all that bad either.
