CHAPTER 02,
Boner For a Dead Man
(Also! Snape Is a Petty Bastard)
──────────
september, 1991

NEWS OF HARRY POTTER being Gryffindor's new Seeker spread through Hogwarts Castle faster than any virus ever could. (It was supposed to be a secret.) People and ghosts chat among each other, saying that Harry is the youngest Seeker to ever make the team in a century, also being the only first year allowed to have his own broom.

Mikaela stomps through the corridors of Hogwarts Castle with a scowl on her face. While she's happy for Harry and his early success, she hates that Gryffindor is once again the main topic of any conversation because of him.

Still, she set out to the Great Hall with a certain goal in mind, and she won't be put off just because she hates listening to people talk of the rival house.

The copy of Quidditch Through the Ages is heavy in her hands, but she's been wanting to give the book to Harry since she learnt of his presence at Hogwarts. And now that he's a quidditch player, too, it only seems fitting. Although strange that the Slytherin Keeper would give the basic guide to quidditch to the new Gryffindor Seeker.

Harry sits at the Gryffindor table with his friends and the quidditch team. Mikaela recognises Wood, the Weasley twins and Angelina Johnson. She has never registered the name of the youngest Weasley at Hogwarts, not that she needs to know anyway.

Approaching them, the Gryffindors give her weird looks, especially once she stops by the Gryffindor quidditch team. She gets quizzical looks from her fellow Slytherins, too, but nobody gets an answer from her. At least until she speaks up, having the attention of everyone at the table.

"Harry," she addresses the dark-haired boy. "Can I talk to you?" she asks.

"What do you want with my Seeker?" asks Wood.

"He's not an object, Wood. He can speak for himself," says Mikaela indignantly. "And it's none of your bloody business."

   Wood grumbles in response.

Lia Lupin makes her way toward the Gryffindors, offering one of her adorable smiles to Mikaela. The embodiment of sunshine among shadows.

"Hi," she tells the Song girl, happy to see her.

As a Gryffindor and Slytherin, they rarely interact, but Mikaela notes to herself that she must ask Lia how she likes Hogwarts so far later. The Gryffindors redirect their curious gazes at the eleven-year-old girl.

"Hey, Lia," Mikaela greets back, before turning her attention back to Harry.

"Er," he says, glancing at all of his friends with a raised brow. They shrug, not knowing what Mikaela Song could possibly want. "I guess, yeah," he nods finally.
