VIII - A Year Later

Christmas passed and before I knew it, spring had passed too and the summer had already come. I started to get pretty sad, because I knew that after the school year was over, I'd have to go back to the orphanage - and spend my entire summer with no magic, barely any fun, and a cousin who I despise. The day came, and I said bye to my friends when we were travelling back on the train. At King's Cross station a taxi picked me and Tom up to take us back to the place we both didn't want to go to. We didn't talk at all in the taxi. Ten minutes later we were back at the desolated grey building. And so, the summer 'holiday' started.

I'd go into detail about what we did there in the holidays, that is, if there was anything significant we did back at the orphanage. Luckily nothing bad happened to the children - because we can not use magic outside of school and if we did we'd be expelled. That would definitely ruin Tom's 'perfect student' disguise. The summer felt so long, compared to the time I had at Hogwarts - I guess time really does fly when you're having fun. But finally, after two months of boredom, the 1st of September came and we finally got to go back.

When I got to the platform that day, it was packed just like last year. There were all the same students as last year, and some new ones too. I looked round for Mary and Liza and ran up to them, getting myself as far away from Tom as I physically could. "Hi! How was your summer? Must be hard at the orphanage with Tom. He's so creepy!"

"Yeah", I said. "Feels so good to be back, I miss being able to do magic.", I replied

"Come on we'd better get on" said Mary - waving goodbye to her parents and sister.

So I boarded the train, ready to start my new year.

Second year was fun.

I got to learn even more spells, potions, magical history than I ever did before, and I made friends with even more people and still did well in my studies.

But all good things have to come with bad things too. Even more people, teachers AND students have been blindly giving Tom more and more praise. In fact some are even calling him one of the best students who has ever come to the school and he's only a thirteen year old. He also has his own group of 'friends' but they are probably not his friends, they're just people who want attention from being with him.

But as I say, second year was fun - but there were so many things in store which I wasn't expecting at all...

A.N I'm legit so so sorry for this short chapter - I am kinda losing motivation but I'll try and keep going to get to the more exciting bits of the story. BTW thanks so much to everyone who has reviewed - it rly helps and makes me happy. Baii for now 👋
