Disclaimers: I do not own Warframe.
A/N: Okay, I'm back from doing on-site work for my job (I was gone for months and only had my cellphone on me) and now back at my computer and ready to get back to this story along with the rest of them.
Like I said before I left, I will be focusing more on the Main Storyline as oppose to the side stories, though I am not above split them both into separate stories if need be, I'll think that over.
Third, while yes this is only a preview, it shows that I have not given up on this story.
Battlefield: Queens' Dominance (Preview)
Chroma didn't think of himself as a swordsman as Excalibur did.
To him, the word was a demeaning one that he felt limited one's potential and range.
Excalibur lived by the blade and would prefer to die by it if possible, but that wasn't the Dragon Tenno.
While he did use Tiamat's Wrath as an extension of his own body and he was quite skilled in the way of the blade, Chroma considers himself a hunter above all else. He used whatever was available for him to overcome his prey aka everyone who was trying to kill him at that moment and while he disregards the use of firearms whenever he went out on missions he did not look down on those who used them like Mesa. Guns had their use on the battlefields of the Origins System but unfortunately, they were a concept that he was not familiar with.
Something that he realizes that he would have to get more familiar with later....
That is if he survives.
For as of right now, the only two things keeping him from being killed within the first few seconds of Excalibur Prime attacking him with his twin blades was the fact that his sword was longer and wider than the average blade wielded by his comrades.
There was also the fact that Excalibur Prime's fighting style wasn't all that much different than the one utilized by the original Excalibur, who he has sparred with a considerable amount of times before, though the Prime had augment it with a second sword thus making it nearly completely foreign to him.
So for the first time in a long time, Chroma found himself completely on the defensive and he did not like it one bit.
It was while he was in the middle of defending himself that Revenant decided to step in and aide him, rushing Excalibur Prime with his Tastu over his head, bringing it down his exposed back.
CLANK!
Without him having to look back, the Prime uses his left sword to block Revenant's attack all while still attacking Chroma with the right. Pushing Revenant away Excalibur Prime temporarily directs all of his attention, and swords, back on Chroma who once more found himself struggling to survive, a rare occurrence for him in close-quarters combat.
Meanwhile, for the second time today, Trinity found herself slowly waking up in pain, facing upwards at the ceiling of the ship. As she tries to make a recollection of what just occur the sounds of metal clashing with metal force her to turn her head to the left to witness both Revenant and Chroma squaring off against Excalibur Prime and barely holding their own.
She barely has any time to focus on this before her audio sensors pick up a groan coming from her right and redirect her head to see Atlas lying on his stomach and slowly starting to move on the ground not far from her.
"You okay there, Deary?", he asks through grunts of pain.
"You are showing signs of severe pain but the first thing you ask is how I am doing?", Trinity asks, deciding that now wasn't the time to get annoyed by the use of her least favorite nickname.
"Man got to have his priority", Atlas tries to chuckle though it sounded painful. He then turns his head to see the battle going on, "You think they can handle him?
"Chroma and Revenant are actually trained swordsmen, so I know that they will do better than us", Trinity answers as she began to focus her energy and casts Blessing on herself. The aura the ability produces encompasses Atlas and allows him to heal as well. Luckily for the both of them, it also created a pain-numbing effect which was greatly needed seeing how Trinity's warframe was registering two broken ribs on her and she could only imagine what Atlas had wrong with him, but pretty sure he was back in the yellow in overall health.
"Ordis, I need a path to the labs onboard now", Trinity orders.
"Affirmative, Operator Trinity, mapping course now", Ordis answers.
Eventually, Trinity's Blessing took its full effect and the Healing Tenno along with the Earth Tenno began to stand up, though it took some effort.
"What are we going to do about that Prime?", Atlas asks as his fingers firmly grip one of his Soma, looking as if he debating whether or not to join in the clash.
"We are going to have to trust Chroma and Revenant that they can handle him! We already have our primary objective and we have to complete it if the people of Cetus are to survive!", Trinity answers before switching to the team radio line.
"Chroma! Revenant! Atlas and I are heading to secure the toxic! You two are to stay here and keep Excalibur Prime occupied!", she orders.
Chroma merely growls over his line as he parries another thrust aim at his chest while Revenant answers in his stead.
"We will do what we can but I must advise that you hurry. We alone may not be able to contain him for long", he says in a calm voice as he blocks a hard slash to his torso.
Chroma brings Tiamat's Wrath down on top of Excalibur Prime's head only to be easily blocked and the two were lock in a deadly standoff.
"I have no intention of simply "containing" this wrench! I will end him here and now, even if I have to do so myself!", the Dragon Tenno declares as he is then push back from the Prime.
"Ordis detects that Operator Chroma is reaching an extremely high level of aggression; more so than usual. His adrenaline levels are almost equal to the levels he had when he faced the Stalker back on Mercury."
Trinity, realizing that she didn't have the time to address this issue, heads toward the entrance to the hangar bay.
"You two just need to keep him busy while we will extract the toxic!", she commands as Atlas soon follows behind her leaving the three sword-wielding individuals to themselves who were now in the midst of a standoff. Chroma and Revenant were on either side of Excalibur Prime while their foe merely stood between them, pointing at each of them with a golden sword. The three of them stood there for a time in a straight line as neither one of them move.
For Trinity and Atlas, no sooner did the duo get into the next room did they come in contact with an entire platoon of Grineer consisting of Lancers, their elite counterparts, and even two squads worth of Heavy Gunners. The room became full with a storm of bullets as Trinity barely manages to duck behind one of the railings with Atlas joining her a second later after he laid down a wave of suppression fire with his dual Soma, killing at least two Lancers but merely sending the rest of the Grineer scrambling for cover.
"We don't have time for this!", Trinity states, "We have to find a way around them!"
"I concur with your statement, Operator Trinity. I detect at least two more platoons of equal size converging on your position. Current ETA is two minutes." Ordis informs.
"Well, time to get to work", Atlas states as he reloads both of his Soma, "And to think I almost miss this party."
A/N: More is coming, I promise.
