A/N: So this was submitted to me by Geolex (id: 5683514) awhile ago and I just now got around to releasing it. While there was some editing done on my part as well as more added to it, all the credit goes to them while laying the foundation for it.

Nekros:

The Undead Tenno, The Death Tenno, The Lich Tenno, The Horror Tenno. The Reaper Tenno.

Unofficially: The Grandfather Tenno

This is Nekros, Manipulator of Souls.

Born into a family of hunters in the former Orokin Mars colony of Ares, Nekros lived there for most of the early part of his life before moving to Olympus to live with his uncle, a local judge, at the age of 16. While there he met his future wife and began to start a family of his own. Showing a spark of intelligence that did not go unnoticed by the government officials of the colony, Nekros quickly rose through the ranks of the Orokin bureaucracy, reaching positions that were once thought unheard of achieving for someone of his low stature. Some time in his 40's, he was appointed to the rank of the regional administrator of the Orokin Empire and oversaw administration duties in multiple colonies on the Red Planet, even personally seeing clients if he had the chance to.

And this would be his life for the next forty years.

*It has been stated by Nekros himself that he does recall briefly meeting Mesa once when she was a little girl before the jump ship incident when her father brought her along to received a permit to expand his land. He remembers fondly The Gunslinger Tenno and his granddaughter playing together while the two men talk business. Unfortunately, Mesa does not recall this.*

According to what remains of his profile, Nekros was 81 years old the year of the incident, making him the second oldest Tenno behind Inaros. When his granddaughter's parents died in the infamous Ares' reactor explosion that killed three thousand people, he took it upon himself to take her in and care for her, even if he was nearing the end of his life at the time.

As a reward for his diligence and devotion to duty, he was asked by the overall Mars governor, who was a good friend of his, to board the Zariman Ten Zero and represent the planet along with others planetary officials at the Emperor's Grand Parade which he heartily accepted though he wasn't allowed to bring anyone with him. Thus he left his granddaughter in the care of a trusted friend of his deceased daughter's.

He, like almost everyone else on board, was unaware of the plans the Orokin Emperor had and what was to happen with the ship after it began its void jump experiment.

The void's exposure changed his physiology drastically. His face had become unrecognizable and horrifying, but while his body was skin and bones, he could move like his age didn't have an effect on him. Nevertheless, his body will never be the same again.

When he was found by the rescue team years later, a few of them suffered panic attacks at the sight of his face, prompting the suggestion to cover it with a spare helmet. His initial physical analysis tests afterward were baffling to the doctors as they said that he shouldn't even be alive with how inactive his organs were.

It was through pure coincidence that the Mars Governor found out that the Empire was planning on executing Nekros' granddaughter and the woman he had trusted her to so knowledge of the incident didn't come out to the public. At the cost of his own life, he somehow manages to get the information to Nekros who then begged and pleaded to his superiors that they spare their lives, even bargaining his own. Sadly, all this did was amuse the Emperor and his advisors, but he did give him time to say his goodbyes to the two before executing them. Seeing his granddaughter killed before his eyes soured his views of the Orokin Empire and he took great pleasure avenging her on that fateful day, only being denied sending the Emperor himself to the afterlife with his own hands by another who took that pleasure away from him.

Nekros is not a leader in the sense that Excalibur is, but he is one nonetheless. He usually gives orders while staying in the back, picking off enemies that get too close with his Vectis and running in with Terrify to give allies some time to breathe and think when the situation is getting too intense. Should he have no choice but to switch to melee, he does so with the fierce power of his Ether Reaper, cutting through swathes of enemies as though they were weeds. He is also known to use the aura mod, Rejuvenation, to help keep his squadmates alive and his ability, Shadows of the Dead, to give his enemies more to worry about and make them shift their focus off of his team.

Nekros possesses the battlefield, Death is his playground

While not many people have seen his face, those who have including Excalibur, Trinity, Khora, and Hydroid, they have all said that it was horrifying. Even I who have also seen it find myself unnerved by the memory of it and I shudder sometimes at the mere thought of it. Anyone else outside of the Tenno and our allies would likely never lived to tell the tale if they saw it.

Due to his power of Desecration, he's usually the one to help obtain resources when supplies are running low, often paired with Khora and Hydroid as their augment mods compliment his own power, resulting in bountiful amounts of resources when they return from gathering. As such, they've been unofficially dubbed "Loot Squad".

Nekros doesn't often get mad, but when he does, he yells at people in an entirely different language. While not many of the Tenno know what exactly he's saying, Ordis did recognize the language as Ancient Spanish which originated from the Iberian Peninsula on Earth. Not entirely surprising when Nekros himself has admitted that his family were among the last few remaining people in all the Origin System who still spoke the language. They were also among the few people of the Orokin Empire who did not practice the official religion of Orokin Starism. Instead, they followed the teaching of what I believe is known as Ancient Catholicism.

When Grendel is unable to cook, Nekros is one of the few that will volunteer to do so to keep everyone from having to eat process meals. While his food is delicious, the level of spiciness to it has even made Ember and Nezha shallow gallons of water afterward.

He's known to possess a Shawzin and happens to be rather skillful at playing it. He is open to request with most of them coming from Octavia, Banshee, and surprisingly, Vauban.

If Atlas is considered the "Father" figure of the Tenno, then Nekros is no doubt the "Grandfather" seeing how the Sand Tenno rarely talks to anyone unless he has to. He has been known to give advice to the older individuals, even helping Trinity and The Earth Tenno himself out with their problems. Though he has been known to butt heads with Inaros from time to time.

Special Note:

In Khora's words: "During a mission in the void where we were gathering Argon Crystals, we had stumbled upon some old ropes or something in a cache. There was also a note in it, though it was in a different language I couldn't read, but Nekros could.

Upon reading it, he lifted his helmet and while I turn my head away so that I wouldn't see his face, it sounded like he was sobbing a little. All that he said was that he wishes that he could have been given them from her. He called them the "Mortos Binds".

Personal Notes:

I once witness Nekros staring at Chroma from across the hangar bay for a considerable amount of time as the Dragon Tenno mediated on top of his Landing Craft seeing how the Mediation Room was being used. When I approach him on the matter, the Death Tenno simply shook his head and said

"That boy was been accustomed to death since the day he came into the stars. Sometimes I wonder which one of us is the real reaper."

There was another instance where Nekros approached me, asking to never be assigned another mission with Nidus. When I inquiry the reason behind this, I was told:

"That lad is neither living nor dead. He is like me but not in the same way. The laws of nature have no meaning to him."

End of Personal Notes.

"You will find no greater power than the simple thought of your own name, inscribed upon a grave."

An excerpt that Nekros adds at the end of every report he submits.
