Choice A: The Attic

You decided to search your attic for items instead. You had no idea what was happening at the Walmart, and it was most likely closed due to the apocalypse beginning outside. You shrugged away your thoughts, going to the attic entrance.

You rarely entered your attic. I mean, what use was it? You weren't very big on storing items up there, however, you did remember when you first moved in, you mother put a ton of supplies up there. You also recall your friend, Andrea, passing out drunk up there with a whole bunch of snacks and water, but who knows if it was still any good.

You sighed, entering your attack, the dust and smell of wood surrounding you. There was a bed in the middle, where Andrea passed out on, along with a package of water bottles in the corner. Well, you had water, that was a good start.

You noticed the empty beer bottle close to the mattress, and your cringed at the sight. Andrea had been really drunk, and that bottle brought back memories of her vomiting all over your flat. You needed to throw that out later.

You searched the shelves, finding a pack of oreos and some chips. That was okay, but you still needed more. You huffed, picking up a large box labeled: "MEDICAL" assuming your mom had put this up here in hopes you would come up here and unpack it... whoops.

However, when you opened the box, you were disappointed to see a whole bunch of junk instead of supplies. You searched through a few more boxes, and luckily, you found a box filled with small medical supplies.

You were pleased with the water and the small box of supplies you found, however, you still needed food and a weapon. You pondered if your mom kept old sports equipment in any boxes. If you couldn't have a gun, a baseball bat would do.

You searched through a few duffel bags, finding nothing at first, but then you opened a duffel bag filled with old baseballs and a baseball bat. It was rather small, but it would work. You emptied the baseballs into a random box, and you decided to use the duffel bag as a carrier for your resources, just in case you needed to make a grand escape. Placing your equipment in your bag, (you didn't grab the whole package of water, just a few bottles) you headed downstairs to check for food.

Your pantry was filled with a pretty good amount of food, so you were content. You had just the bare minimum of supplies, so you believed you would be okay for at least a few days. You would keep your phone charged at all times in case any announcements or texts came through. Also, the boring news channel would become a daily show for you to watch during this time.

You checked different news channels hoping for updates, however, none were available. People were panicking on social media, and your dumbass of a president tweeted out: We will pull through! Stay Calm!

Really? So motivational, I'm practically tearing up at your stupidity. You couldn't even look at Twitter after that, the only platform you checked was YouTube and your messaging app. You desperately wanted to hear back from Rain, so you texted her a short and simple message asking how she was doing. She responded instantly.

You: Hey, doing well?
Rain: Yeah, I have Josh over, he wanted to be with me through this.
You: Did he get the vaccine?
Rain: no. He thought it was stupid.
You: Smart
Rain: Shut up omf
Rain: omg*
You: I'm just saying, because of this vaccine I need to constantly check up on you. I'm nervous.
Rain: No side effects yet, and you're not my mom lol don't worry.
You: Okay, I'm glad Josh is with you. Again, keep me updated.
Rain: Will do!

That was the end of the conversation. You sat back on your couch, and switched to Cartoon Network. You weren't leaving your flat for a while, and you hoped you would be okay. Things were bound to get better, right?
