You were tired. You couldn't even concentrate on your recent project due to your exhaustion. Your eyes were sore from analyzing your passages over and over again, and all you wanted was sleep. You yawned, and you decided to take a break from your mess of an assignment.
Reaching for a large bag of popcorn from your kitchen, you entered your living room. You flopped onto the couch, the screws clinking and emitting a loud "squeak". You payed no mind to it, couches were too expensive, if yours were to break you'd just sit on the floor. You hummed, flipping channel through channel to find something interesting, when you flipped to the NEWS123 channel.
Now, you weren't the type of person to watch the news, however, the title "Breaking News: Live" intrigued you. So, opening your bag of popcorn, you started eating. A man appeared on screen, a man your country knew too well. President Harrison Wall. He was an awful president, really. You had no idea how the man was elected. He always seemed so lost and confused at political events, and he often teased his opponents for being "cowards", when he, himself was the coward.
He cleared his throat, a haughty smile tugging on his lips, as he opened them to speak, "Citizens of this beautiful country, today is a day that will go down in history books forever. Today is a day we will recall fondly. Today is a day of greatness."
"Today is a day where I'll knock you out if you don't shut up." You hissed, chewing on some popcorn.
"A discovery has been uncovered by our wonderful scientists and doctors on the Wall Administration Team. We have found a cure for any disease- any!" He proudly remarked, as the crowd mumbled a bit.
You lifted an eyebrow, watching as a shot was brought out. It contained a blue-ish green liquid, that reminded you of a lake.
"Here we have the 'Know-It-All!' This substance contains highly intelligent antibodies, that once entered the body, will attack anything it finds harmful." He exclaimed, "Already, tests have shown improvements. We're hoping that almost everyone in the country will be able to take this wonderful vaccine and be cured of everything- forever!"
"That's suspicious." You whispered, suddenly finding the news boring. You flipped the channel to CartoonNetwork, and relaxed into your couch.
Well, you tried to relax, until you received a text from your friend, Rain.
Rain: Hey! Did you just watch the news?
You: Yeah, it seems like bull.
Rain: Nah, I mean. The government wouldn't put something out that's harmful to us, right?
You: Never trust the government.
Rain: Whatever. I'm scheduling an appointment with my doctor ASAP. You do whatever you want.
You: I'm content with my life right now. Thanks.
Rain: I can't with you. Gotta go, Ima call my doctor.
You: Have fun lol
Read. You sighed. People couldn't seriously be taking the virus serious, right? Rain wasn't the brightest individual, however she was stubborn. If she said she was getting the vaccine, she was getting the vaccine.
You shrugged, turning off the television. Maybe you should call your doctor soon, too? Maybe this vaccine was a life-changing event. You didn't know, and you didn't care. You just wanted to go to bed now. While it was entertaining watching television, too many distraction reminded you of your exhaustion. You entered your kitchen to put the popcorn back where it belonged, then trekked to your bedroom.
Opening your bedroom door, you ignored your assignment taunting you on your desk, and dived into your bed. You can handle everything tomorrow. After all, what was gonna happen tomorrow? It's not like you had anything planned or anything to do. Tomorrow would be a boring, bland same old day.
