Y/n woke the next morning and was hit with a wave of sorrow as she remembered what happened the night before. She changed into her robes glumly and walked down the stairs. Y/n saw Mattheo and Theodore Nott talking and quickly slipped out of the common room, careful not to be seen. She walked by herself to the Great Hall and sat next to Lorenzo and Draco Malfoy at the Slytherin table.
"Y/n you need to talk to Mattheo." Lorenzo said, looking over at Y/n with worry.
"No, I don't!" Y/n snapped.
"He just doesn't want you to be hurt!" Draco reasoned.
"Well, he should have thought of that before making me fall for him!" She yelled and stormed out of the Gret Hall and towards the Black Lake.
Y/n slumped to the ground and let the tears she had been holding in for ages finally fall. She sat there sobbing for several minutes before she saw a person sit next to her out of the corner of her eye. Y/n quickly wiped away her tears and saw that Oscar was sitting next to her.
"I feel as though I am the cause of your tears." He said looking at her with remorse.
"No, these tears have been building up for ages." She responded with a sad smile.
"He likes you too, you know," Oscar said after several minutes.
"What?" Y/n questioned.
"Mattheo. I see the way you look at each other. It's pretty obvious you two like one another." Oscar smiled.
"No, no, no. Theo likes someone else." Y/n replied.
"Are you sure?" Oscar asked with a smirk.
On the train, a few days prior
"Any new girls Riddle?" Blaise Zabini asked. Y/n was hiding behind the door where the boys could not see her bust she could hear them. "
Well, there's this one girl that I have my eye on but I don't know I it'll happen." Mattheo sighed.
"She likes you, Mattheo." Lorenzo said. "
How do you know?" Mattheo questioned.
"It's so bloody obvious!" Theodore laughed.
"She swoons when you talk." Mattheo's older brother Tom teased. All the boys started laughing and Y/n walked back to her cabin
Oscar and Y/n sat there for a few more minutes before she stood up.
"I better get to class." She said as Oscar stood.
"Ok, good luck with Mattheo." Oscar smiled and walked off. Y/n walked to her next class, potions, and sat next to Lorenzo.
"Sorry about earlier, I'm just tired." Y/n apologized.
"I get it." Lorenzo whispered as Snape cleared his throat, "Today we will be making the Babbling Beverage. I will be putting you into pairs. If I hear one complaint you shall work with Mr. Longbottom." The whole class stayed silent.
"The pairs are Hermione and Lorenzo, Ron and Pansy, Mr. Potter and Mr. Longbottom, Theodore and Blaise, Jacob and Lavender, and finally Mattheo and Y/n." Snape listed and Y/n silently cursed when hearing her partner. Students shuffled to get to their partners but Y/n stayed put. Mattheo strutted over to her, glaring.
"Riddle, go get me valerian sprigs, aconite, and dittinay." Y/n said not sparing a glance at Mattheo.
"You clearly don't need my help so get it yourself." Mattheo responded, crossing his arms.
"No," Y/n said, looking up at Mattheo with fury.
"No?" He questioned.
"You don't get to be mad. You don't get to be mad because you don't have to deal with the pain of loving someone who doesn't love you and the moment you finally start moving on they ruin your chances with another guy. You don't get to be mad because you can get any girl you like with one glance. You don't get to be mad because you can love someone beautiful and rich while I buy thirty cats and cry myself to sleep at night. Ok, Theo? So Shut. Up." Y/n spat at Mattheo.
"I don't get to be mad? I have loved the same girl since I met her and watch her get stared at for how beautiful she is. I have to get my heart broken every single day because she doesn't love me back and flirts with all her friends. Y/n/n, do not tell me what I can and cannot do." Mattheo hissed.
"Black Lake, after dinner." Y/n said smirking as they were dismissed. Mattheo smiled as he grabbed his bag and walked to his next class.
