Yorknew City

Chapter 3

Three weeks quickly pass by. The time for Kurapika to leave Yorknew is coming closer. He has been working and spending time with Akemi. Kurapika is not the type of person to open up to anyone due to the pain and rage in his heart. Since meeting Akemi, he has decided it was time to put those feelings aside and focus on himself. He has told Akemi about being the last surviving Kurta. She told him she is not from Yorknew, but she is staying until her father gets better. The best doctors work at the Yorknew hospital and she wants the very best care for her father.

Kurapika and Akemi are eating ramen at a rooftop restaurant.
"Kurapika. I want to thank you for being with me during this terrible time. I'm afraid of what I'm going to do when you leave." she says to Kurapika.
"You will be fine. And I promise to check in periodically. Didn't you say your father's health is improving?" Kurapika asks.
"Yes, the doctors here are amazing. Especially this one cardiologist. He has been so kind and takes the extra time to explain everything to me." explains Akemi.
"That is wonderful. I am glad to hear that." says Kurapika.
"Hey, Kurapika?"
"Yes?"
"Since my father is doing a lot better, I would like you to meet him. Does that sound okay to you? Or is it too soon?" she asked.
"I am honored. In fact, I'm meeting my friends today. Would you like to meet them?" asks Kurapika.
"Of course! They sound like great friends!"
"They really are." Kurapika smiles.

Kurapika and Akemi are sitting on a bench at Yorknew Parkcentral. They are waiting for Gon, Killua, and Leorio to arrive.
"It appears they are running a little behind." says Kurapika, checking the time.
"That's okay. It is a beautiful day and I am always happy to be by your side." says Akemi, blushing.
"Is that true?" asks Kurapika.
"Of course it is. I can't imagine being with anyone else." Akemi answers.
"If that is how you feel, then may I offer you something?" Kurapika asks.
"Yes." she answers.

Kurapika gently caresses her face and leans in to kiss her softly on the lips. Akemi accepts and kisses him back. At that moment, Gon, Killua, and Leorio arrive.

"Kurapika!" Gon calls out, waving.
"Gross, Kurapika! What the hell are you doing?" asks Killua, pretending to gag.
"Way to go, Kurapika!" says Leorio, smiling.
"Hey, Kurapika. Is this your new friend?" asks Gon.
Kurapika gets up from the bench and offers his hand to Akemi. She accepts his hand and stands up. They walk closer to the group.
"Yes, it is. I would like to introduce you to Akemi." answers Kurapika.
"Kurapika! She is a cutie!" says Leorio, excitedly.
"Um, thank you." responds Akemi, blushing.
"Akemi, meet Leorio, Gon, and Killua." Kurapika introduces her to his friends.
"Nice to meet all of you!" says Akemi.
"Yes, nice to meet you!" exclaimed Gon.
Leorio takes Kurapika away from the others.
"I can see why you have been so overjoyed lately. I'm so happy for you. You really deserve it." says Leorio to Kurapika.
"Thank you, Leorio." says Kurapika, smiling.
They both walk back to the others.
"Gon, have you found your game yet?" Kurapika asks Gon.
"Not yet, but we are really close!" answers Gon.
"Not close enough! We really need to get back to it!" says Killua while stuffing a chocorobo in his mouth.
"Yes, we will! Don't worry, Killua." says Gon to Killua while taking the rest of Killua's chocorobo.
"Hey! Give that back!" yells Killua.
"You have to catch me first! Gon yells back while running away from Killua.
Kurapika and Akemi laugh.

They all spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Parkcentral. Kurapika and Akemi head back to the hotel to change before visiting her father at the hospital.

"Meet you downstairs in an hour!" Akemi says to Kurapika while walking to her hotel room.
"Sounds good, see you then." says Kurapika.

Kurapika goes into his hotel room. He takes a quick shower then sits in the hot bath while thinking. He really is happy to have met someone. His focus has always been to capture the Phantom Troupe and recover his clan's eyes. He is tired of feeling pain. He gets out and wraps a towel around his waist and looks for something special to wear. He decides a suit would be appropriate. After getting dressed up, he combs his hair and removes his contact lenses. Kurapika doesn't feel like he needs to wear them anymore. He then leaves the hotel room to meet Akemi.
