Great shouts and a blast that made the floor rumbled had Snape leaving his place of watch by the bed and rushing to the door. Casting a glance back to check on the frozen scene he opened the door just a crack to peer through at the commotion.

Outside spells hurtled through the air back and forth between the few snatchers, who had been lingering around since Greyback's disappearance several hours ago, and several members of the order.

The order?

What was the order doing here now?

Not now, thought Snape. Now was not a good time. In fact the timing could not be worse.

Snape glanced at the scene behind him.

The chaos outside would soon spill inward, there was nothing Snape could do about it.

Snape stepped back from the door and cast a barrier.  The shin shimmering shield created a wall between the door and the rest of the room, stretching from wall to wall.

Against the order it would not last long, but it would buy some time.

The last thing that Severus Snape wanted was for them ruin Draco's goodbye, or deprive Narcissa from being there for the last few moments with her son.

Based on the nearing sounds of battle, both of those things were going to happen regardless of his desires.

A strange moaning sound from behind him, caught Snape's ear and he and turned in time to see Draco's body bow up off the bed. The little black veins which had made their way over nearly the entirety of his skin began a rapid retreat back wards.

Snape stepped towards the bed as Draco mouth opened in a strange wrenching sound which almost sounded like a 'No'

Then there was a choking, gurgling sound that made Snape's stomach turn in a primitive response.

At once the air was filled with a rotten acrid scent as a stream of the black spewed forth from Draco's lips.

The writhing liquid arched up into the air, snapping and hissing.

Snape recoiled.

It hissed at him before it shot downwards and wrapped around young miss Granger's neck opening her mouth and pushing itself violently forward.

She made a disturbed sound of pain and her body dropped backwards onto the bed and began convulsing.

Snape watched in horror as the black veins that had been on Draco's skin appeared on Hermione's skin spreading out rapidly till nearly her whole body was covered.

The door blew open and Snape stumbled backward caught only slightly off guard.

At the doorway stood several members of the order.

They took one look at the barrier and began their assault on it, wands drawn.

Snape turned back to where Draco and Hermione lay.

Draco was still laying as still as the grave and Hermione was still seizing.

What happened?

Had Hermione pulled the curse from Draco?

Or maybe it was finished with Draco and then crossed across the bind to finish with her...

The barrier gave way.

A Wizard came through and Snape sent him flying right back out of the room.

You can not stay, he told himself.
