Hermione had fallen asleep in Draco's arms after crying for a while.

As reluctant as Draco was to leave Hermione's side, he had to eat. His stomach was growling loud enough that he was worried he would wake her with the grumbled alone.

She's so fucking beautiful, he thought as he looked at her.

The sounds she had made, the way she had responded to his touch had driven him wild inside and out. He would savor the sound of her first climax with him forever in his memory even though he planned on making it happen again and again there was something special about first.

I want to make her first special, he found himself thinking and then his mind went to other places. He didn't want to hurt her...

Draco's stomach growled again and he closed his eyes enjoying the feel of their bare torso's pressed together. If he wasn't hungry he could just lay here forever, but if he was hungry she probably was too.

He carefully extracted himself from her grip.

Hermione curled in of herself like a tired kitten and Draco carefully covered her with a sheet knowing it's what she would want. If she woke up while he was away he wanted her to feel safe and comfortable.

Now that she was back, now that she was here, he was going to do everything to keep her that way.

Draco tiptoed away and made his way downstairs to the kitchen.

His mother sitting waiting for him at the table.

-

Narcissa was sitting, back ramrod straight, hands laced together just under her chin waiting. Her head lifted as her son entered the room.

She hadn't dared go upstairs.

Hadn't wanted to interrupt anything.

Didn't particularly want to think about anything happening.

Draco's back stiffened preparing for a fight.

She knew that Draco would defend the young woman upstairs, just as the young woman upstairs would defend her son...had defended her son against all odds.

"I'm not giving her up," said Draco, his voice firm. There was an unyielding aura about him which she had never seen before.

She had told her son that war was time for great men, somehow amid all the chaos he had become one.

"I am not going to ask you to," she answered and Draco blinked.

"What?" he looked at her with obvious surprise.

"You love her. I can see it in your eyes," Narcissa's throat felt thick stating the truth. It needed to be said, just as she needed to say what came next. "She loves you and I...I love you Draco, I love you more than anything in this world."

Standing, on legs that were surprisingly shaky, Narcissa made her way around the table towards her son.

She wanted to reach out to him, to touch his face, but was afraid that he would pull away so she stopped short and continued to speak instead.

"I want you to be happy."
